In ‘03 I was looking for a new used car, preferably a ‘82-’85 Supra or one of these. I found neither in my price range & wound up with a ‘91 Celica convertible. I still like the SVX, & there are 5 spd. conversions on youTube. There are also a couple cash4clunkers videos out there. Ashame for a rare car.

Don’t. You’re better off getting something more reliable rather then fixing a tranny and having it break again.

My guess is that the previous owner may have been using regular unleaded…are you using premium gas? That should help. They don’t like the cheap stuff.

good idea
they have swap kits that uses the legasey 5 speed
all that needs to be fabricated is the hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal to booster , they provide everything else including final drive dif , shifter , trans mount , shift boot , and main drive propeler axle , and of coarse the five speed trans , you do need to give them your core though or just pay the core charge if you want to keep yours as a backup

It’s really a shame that the SVX only comes with an automatic… Maybe sometime later in life I’ll convert one to manual…..

this one’s styling didn’t age quite as well as the other Japanese supers of the early 90’s… but I’m sure it was still badass! then, that is subie… not the best styling, with excellent engineering!!!

truely rare car, seems to have faded away when the 2door sports coupe market declined in the 1990s. Always wondered why they didnt offer a turbocharged version with the AWD model?

Subaru only sold 14,257 of these in the U.S., and about 25,000 worldwide.

funny thing is i might get a 1992 SVX for my first car ^.^ well i least i hope i can even thou its like 50 min away from where i live. it needs some touch up on some 1″ rust spots but thats no bigge to me. what i would really like to do is put a S/C on it or a turbo but the first thing i would do is put a stage 1 ECU chip and go from there.
good luck

I have a ‘96. I LOVE this car. I bought it specifically for road trips, for which it suits is purpose perfectly.
