It works, but only through direct connections. I have to literally set it on top of my radio, and wrap the antenna around it to be able to get my radio tp pick up the signal. The sound quality on small radios is fine. If you try this with a decent 2 channel stereo you will be very disappointed. The sound is very compressed. It sounds worse then mp3 files. I don’t know if it’s the radio’s fault, or if xm quality is just that bad.
If you don’t care what your music sounds like, this unit will work, but if you like crisp highs, and booming lows, stay away from this radio.

Excellent xm experience for a car add on product. I play it through a car radio programed to accept a wired connection. It is excellent in sound quality and very easy to adjust. Good product at a good price and good service.

My wife bought this unit for her ‘06 Civic, and had it professionally installed. The sound is OK, but really no worse than my Audi with a factory built-in receiver….it’s just a by-product of the satellite signal. I think all satellite receivers have that problem, they will never be CD quality. If you want perfect sound quality, get an MP3 player. This unit has performed perfectly over the three years she’s had it with daily use. She does leave it in the car, so no wear and tear on the connections. The only drawback is that the ball adjuster on the cradle that allows you to tilt the receiver is getting loose, so the receiver gradually tips downward over time…..really not a fault with the receiver so much as the cradle.

This unit was given to me and it sat in my closet for about a year before I broke it out and installed it. The installation took about an hour; beginning to end (wires hidden and all). I use the FM Modulator because my Ford Focus factory radio does not have an aux. line in. However, the factory radio receives the signal through the “sure connect” beautifully. The sound is better than local radio and quite close to CD quality. For the price, I think this unit is the bee’s knee’s; and for me it was free:). For the reviewers who are unhappy with the FM Modulator, your “sure connect” may have become compromised in some way or your radio is sub-par. For the Ford Focus factory radio and speaker system, this unit works well. I recommend it as a buy along with the home installation kit. This is a great gift to give.
