I remember when the 91’s came out, and how cool I thought they were. I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years – man, I feel old!

Power leather seats, pull straps on the doors, low fuel, coolant, washer fluid and oil warning lights. A towing package and the LTZ sport handling package. In 1992 you also got the digital speedometer, with analog tach, volt meter, oil pressure, fuel, and engine temp gauges. That wasn’t available in 1991 but they added it in 1992. Also different styles of wheel covers or rims.

I’m glad the 350 cu in (5.7 liter) V-8 became an option for civilian models in 1992 as well as a speedo that reads to 100 instead of 85. I was so surprised to find this on here and am quite happy about it. I have a 92 Caprice with the 5.0 liter V-8 with over 260,000 miles on that engine. Still runs strong and smooth. She’s showing some age on the interior but I do plan to start fixing her up and keeping her looking and running great. They are right though, for such a large car they handle great!

The Caprice was the baseline model, the Caprice Classic was the more top of the line model, there were a few options you couldn’t get on the Base Caprice that you could get on the Classic.

I loved the design 7 years ago, but now looking at the specs, for a 5 liter V8, it’s horrible. Still, I’d love to try one out just for old times sake

Yes Holden put a lot of effort into converting their V8 to Fuel injection. It used multipoint Bosch injection and new free breathing heads with rounded ports and bigger valves, thus giving a very substantial power improvement. I have heard stories of Holden designing a prototype DOHC V8 using a lot of parts from the Family 2 engine. But it was squashed in favor of the Chev V8

It called emission controls! When the big Euro Cars in the late 70’s early 80’s were tuned to to run on unleaded set up to meet US regs they ended up using more fuel than a Big Block and had just as much problems keeping tune as a US engine did. The ultimate solution to this was the introduction of sequential multipont electronic fuel injection which didn’t become a reality until the late 80’s

This was probably the lowest point in GM history, the cars looks are an abortion and its engineering is 13 years old at introduction.

its a family sedan package, so that means its not a car built for racing. its a great car to cruse around in. but still, a 5.0 should put out atleast 200 hp.
