When this car comes to the US I hope it still gets 50+ mpg and doesn’t cost more than $14,000. Could anyone from Europe who owns this car let me know if a 6′2″ tall driver can fit comfortably in both front seats? I sat in a Smart ForTwo and the driver side was fine but there wasn’t enough legroom on the passenger side. Thanks.

I read in Automobile that all they have to do is revise the front and rear bumpers to meet U.S. safety standards.

God I hate toyotas design team, every new eco car they have made looks the exact same. Those headlights they keep putting on all their cars are horrid.

68bhp is excellent, my car only has 32 (!) but i guess this compact car weighs a lot due to modern safety features so performance is compromised.

i spent sometime w/one of these (in tokyo) in
2008. im 6.2″, 200lbs, slim build, my wife is 5′8″, 140lbs, so she says & average build.
we had no trouble fitting in this car at all but, i
definitely say it is a three seater while im driving
theres no way two six footers could sit on the
same side of the car and if two are in front, i
hope the person in back is not well liked
under the hatch is crazy tiny too but, w/the
seats down & two people most of the time –
no problem

had the smart fortwo in canada b4 the
gas engine debuted in the u.s. tranny
& busy diesel were dreadful. gas engine is
smoother but, iq is still more refined inside
& under hood
but, price would kill it. base 4dr
yaris & base smart fortwo are almost
exactly the same (CDN$)
iq & fortwo are toys for people w/disposable
cash or singles/childless couples that choose
style over practicality (try safely/legally bringing
home dimensional lumber from home depot!)
yaris & others? no prob

smart v. iq? ok so, europe and asia have been
making cars this size (& much smaller) for decades
for the north american market it just seems
like the smart was the innovator (timing is
everything)

I have a smart fortwo, and I’m glad there’s no backseat in it. Nothing to fold down to put stuff in the back!

Hey, If I wanted to fold down the passenger’s seat, it wouldn’t take 20 seconds. It would take 3.
Scion made this car soooo much sexier.
A very true comment, payed for a great car though
why not ?
