Infiniti | sedan | hybrid cars | Infiniti M | luxury cars | Cars | Car Reviews | Infiniti
We don’t talk about Infiniti all too often here on TopSpeed, but lately they have been part of our news due to their new Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) and the fact that they will be debuting two new M-based models at the Pebble Beach Concours. Now we get to talk about them for a different reason. Infiniti is now ready to introduce the technological advancements in the M35h that they have been discussing for quite some time: world-first steering and braking technologies. These technologies will be ready to roll when the car goes on sale in the USA and Europe in 2011.
The Infiniti M35H will be powered by a hybrid drive system that combines a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 68 HP electric motor mated to a 7-speed Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) automatic transmission. The motor directly operates the brakes using a system called the Electric Driven Intelligent Brake. This system works by allowing the motor to charge the battery when the driver applies the brake. The steering is also unique in the M35h because it is part hydraulic and part electric. The electric portion kicks in when the wheel is turned which boosts efficiency. Both of these technologies may be found in all future Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid vehicles due to their simplicity and effectiveness.
Press release after the jump.

Maserati | sedan | future cars | Cars | Car News
At the end of June we reported that the next generation Quattroporte would get a smaller engine and the start-stop system. Today’s rumors suggest that, next to this, Maserati is also working on another smaller sedan placed under the Quattroporte that will compete with models like the Jaguar XF and Cadillac CTS. The new model is expected to be revealed in 2014.
The new model will be offered in two different versions. The first will be an entry level model priced at around $68,000 and powered by a V8 engine. The second version will be a more powerful one that will be about 20% more expensive. While Maserati has offered no details on the platform that will be used for the new model, it is believed it will combine elements from both the next-generation Quattroporte, as well as the replacements for the current GranTurismo and GranCabrio.
However, until we see the new model out on the market, we’re going to focus on the new generation Maserati Quattroporte. And the good news is that the company’s stated intention is to trim the price of the base model about 10 percent, while keeping the upper version where it is. As a reminder, Maserati will offer smaller fuel efficient engines, with a V6 engine being a possibility as well as the latest 8 speed ZF automatic transmission (also offered in the BMW 7-Series). Also a first for Quattroporte is that it will be offered with stop-start technology which is said to reduce fuel consumption by 15 percent.

BMW | sports cars | roadster | future cars | Cars | Car News
Today’s rumors suggest that BMW is about to unveil a new supercar to its line-up. Known as the Norbert Reithofer’s “Dream Project”, the future BMW “Z” Spyder Stradale will go into production in 2014.
BMW used the “Spyder Stradale” term for the first time in the ’40s when they unveiled the 328MM, a sports car featuring a low driving position, set back towards the rear axle with a heavily raked screen and long hood and short rear overhang. This styling is exactly what the Z Spyder Stradale will be all about.
The Spyder Stradale takes off where the Z8 left and retains an aluminum structure. The front of the car and the rear cross frames will be a mix of steel, aluminum, and magnesium. For the passenger area there is an addition of a carbon fiber tub that will be bonded on the aluminum floorplan. The Z Spyder Stradale will feature a very sporty, animalistic front end with signature indicators, that will be used in all the upcoming BMW Coupe and Roadster models.
Under the hood there will be a high performance V8 or a V10 study that BMW considered for the next M5 which would release more than 600 HP. The engine is mated to a conventional automatic transmission or a future 9 speed double clutch transmission.
