The second generation Scion tC made its world debut today at the 2010 New York Auto Show. It comes with an aggressive new look, new engine, and new technologies.
The 2011 tC is built on a new platform and features a specially tuned MacPherson strut front-suspension and a double-wishbone rear-suspension. Under the hood there is a new 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 180 hp (19hp and 11lbs.-ft. or torque more than the previous model) coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission with improved shift-feel or a six-speed automatic with two additional gears and sequential shift.
The exterior design gets protruding fender flares, a sleek front grille, and projector headlamps, while the modified cabin’s shape is inspired by the Scion FUSE concept unveiled back in 2006. Passengers can now relax comfortably in the elongated cabin with reclining rear seat that split 60/40.
The new Scion tC also arrives with key safety features such as standard Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), traction control (TRAC), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), active front-headrests, and eight airbags.
Press release after the jump.

MORE 2009 NYAS @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com So what does an auto show look like in the midst of one of the worst markets in history? Not so bad, actually. The 2009 New York Auto Show is looking like it will finish the season strong, with a handful of notable world debuts along with a dozen or so North American firsts. Think suvs are dead? Well, not quite. Acura, GMC and Land Rover have all come up with what they think are the next generation of suvs. Smaller, more nimble and less painful at the pump, all-new vehicles from all three manufacturers will be making their world debuts in New York. If you’re still not buying into the efficient, high-performance SUV thing, then look for the new 2010 Subaru Legacy. It’ll be shown for the first time in New York and is likely to have all the utility you’ll ever need. And for those who couldn’t care less about utility, Nissan will display the convertible version of its new 370Z coupe. Coverage starts April 8 with video, blogs and photos from the show floor.

Mini | New York Auto Show | Cars | Car News
If you think you’re eyes are deceiving you, they’re not.
First of all, we’ll set the record straight. That’s not a new Hummer since we already know that the brand is scheduled to ride off into the sunset pretty soon. What you’re looking at is actually a Mini, though there’s nothing ‘mini’ about that car.
To be more specific, that’s a Mini media shuttle that has been taking auto journalists to and from the New York Auto Show. Surprisingly, the car caused quite a stir because of its resemblance to a Hummer. But rest assured, the only thing Hummer-ish about this ride is the shape. The rest is all Mini – or as the emblazoned tag line appropriately says ‘Mini goes Maxi’.
