Land Rover fans watch out! The new Range Rover is here. The 5th generation of the popular luxury SUV is supposed to be better than ever and impresses with plug-in hybrid drives and, from 2024, with a purely electric motor.
Land Rover and Range Rover belong together, as the name already shows. A few letters differentiate the well-known model from its brand. With the new edition of the car, Land Rover would like to bring an even more agile off-road vehicle to the market, which should surpass its previous versions in all respects.
More elegant, more luxurious, and more powerful, the new Range Rover should embody all of these parameters. We are already introducing the advantages of the 5th generation.

External dimensions and design
Just like the previous models, the new Range Rover is also available in various lengths. There is a choice of standard (3.00-meter wheelbase) and long-wheelbase (3.20-meter wheelbase). Width and height remain the same. The new Range Rover is always 1.87 meters high and 2.05 meters wide. Just like the wheelbase, the length of the vehicle also changes, of course. The standard version of the new Range Rover measures 5.05 meters in length, with a long wheelbase it is twenty centimeters more, which means that the car ends up at 5.25 meters.
In terms of design, the new Range Rover should not only be chic, but the optics should also bring aerodynamic advantages. With a drag coefficient of 0.30, the car is one of the most efficient luxury SUVs in the world.
While the Range Rover of the last generation still had a lot of angular lines, the new variant is almost completely free of them. The car is very rounded but retains the typical, wide front with the lush radiator grille. This reduction of the edges gives the 5th generation a high degree of modernity. The car stands out from rustic off-road utility vehicles and also manages to look more luxurious than ever.
If you want to adapt the car optically to your taste, you can choose from a wide range of colors. There are 12 solid, metallic, and premium metallic tones such as Lantau Bronze, Belgravia Green, Batumi Gold, and Charente Gray. If you want, you can also make the car color rich in contrast. Then the color of the front of the vehicle is different from the color of the rear.
2022 Range Rover Interior and equipment
With the new Range Rover, Land Rover wants to offer customers even more choices. Customers should be able to customize the car almost limitlessly to their needs.
This individual configuration starts with the number of seats. Like its predecessors, the new Range Rover can also be driven with four, five, or seven seats. Whereby seven seats are only possible with a long wheelbase.
In the long term, three equipment variants should be available for the car: SE, HSE, and Autobiography. For the beginning, there is the Range Rover in the “First Edition”. This is based on the Autobiography equipment and is available with a Sunset Gold Satin finish.
A curved 13.7-inch Pivi-Pro screen acts as the infotainment system. For passengers in the rear, there is a second, 11.4-inch screen that can be linked to WIFI and has HDMI inputs. Here passengers can enjoy smart TV while driving.
The electric doors of the new Range Rover provide additional comfort. These are controlled via the Pivi-Pro screen and have hazard detection and anti-trap protection. Children can get on and off here without hesitation without child safety.
Despite the powerful engines, the new Range Rover should enable a quiet drive. The car is equipped with noise cancellation and features the 1,600 watt Meridian Signature Sound System. So the music is not drowned out by an annoying hum.
Things get futuristic in the new Land Rover Range Rover. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the car can also be linked to Alexa. Customers can then call up weather information or other information by voice. Anyone who has linked their Alexa to other SmartHome applications at home can also control them from the car and, for example, control the lighting in the house while on the move.
Let’s take a look in the trunk. Here you will find helpers for easier stowing and securing of the load. In addition, the rear compartment can be converted into a comfortable seat. Customers can drive the Range Rover into the countryside and sit comfortably in the trunk.
2022 Range Rover Engines and driving behavior
The trend is towards electromobility. Land Rover knows this too and is expanding the engine repertoire for the Range Rover in this direction. Mild hybrids, plug-in hybrid variants, and a pure electric motor should be available for the new model.
In the mild hybrid segment, customers can choose between the 225 km / h P360 and the 242 km / h P400. Alternatively, a particularly powerful 8-cylinder petrol engine, the P530, is also available. This creates a maximum speed of 250 km / h and should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds. The CO2 emissions of the petrol engine are between 230 and 270 g / 100 km. The consumption amounts to 9.5 to 11.4 liters / 100 km.
In addition to gasoline engines, Land Rover continues to offer diesel engines. There are three variants to choose from, the D250, the D300, and the D350. While the D250 can go around 206 km / h, the D300 can go 218 km / h and the D350 234 km / h. In terms of CO2 emissions, the variants are all on par at 198 g / 100km. The consumption comes to about 7.6 l / 100km.
Those who want to be more ecological on the road can buy the Range Rover as a plug-in hybrid. You can choose between the P440e and the P510e. Both plug-in hybrid drives should have an electric range of around 100 kilometers and emit just 30 g of CO2 per kilometer. The faster variant, the P510e, should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds.
The Range Rover 2024 will be even more environmentally friendly. Then a pure electric version will also be added.
All engine variants come with all-wheel drive and were designed for the terrain. A turning circle of 11 meters ensures a particularly agile driving style.
In addition to the range of engines, the adaptive suspension should also ensure increased driving pleasure. With the help of navigation data, the car should recognize bumps on the road and adjust the suspension to this surface.
In addition, customers can choose between six driving modes or configure the chassis setup manually. This allows the performance of the car to be adapted to your requirements.
2022 Range Rover Prices and the start of sales
