  • The first electric car from the Japanese manufacturer
  • Partly identical to the new Toyota bZ4X

  • Comes on the market in 2022

It’s an SUV that was co-developed with Toyota and will be mechanically related to the upcoming bZ4X. It will go on sale worldwide in mid-2022.

Exterior design

Unsurprisingly, the Subaru Solterra is visually almost identical to the recently unveiled Toyota bZ4X. After all, it’s essentially the same car, just with a different brand logo.

However, it gets different headlights and a new front bumper, which has a concealed grille instead of the smoother front bumper of the Toyota.

The rear of the car is essentially identical, albeit without the continuous light bar of the Toyota, and even from the side you don’t see any significant differences.

Battery and motors

Just like the Toyota bZ4X, the Solterra is available as a front-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle. The front-wheel-drive version delivers 201 hp and 256 Nm of torque, while the all-wheel-drive version offers 215 hp and 336 Nm.

The range between charging processes is 530 or 460 kilometers according to the Japanese WLTC standards.

The interior of the Subaru Solterra is fairly minimalist, with a 7-inch digital display in the driver’s field of vision and a large central infotainment system. Below that is a neat row of touch-sensitive buttons.

It looks like the Subaru will also come with brown interior trim – something that hasn’t been confirmed for the Toyota bZ4X.

Subaru Solterra 2022 Price

The Subaru Solterra will hit the global market in 2022 and is probably the most expensive car the Japanese manufacturer has to offer. As such, it is estimated to cost more than 46,000 euros.
