2023 BMW 5 Series G60 will look great !

The next BMW 5 Series will be presented in 2023. Of course with a new design and the large widescreen display from the electric models.

BMW only gave the 5 Series a facelift at the end of May 2021. But there is no standstill: Bayern is already working hard on the successor, the G60/G61 generation, which will probably be presented in autumn 2023. Burners still play a role; But of course, BMW’s luxury class is not immune to profound electrification, which is especially true for the more powerful versions up to the M5. In addition to the technology, the optics should also be completely turned inside out. The illustrator shows what the next 5 series could look like!

The dimensions of the BMW 5 Series will grow slightly

The new generation will probably come with a double headlight face, which will probably also be worn by the BMW X8 and, from 2022, the next 7 Series. Should the 5 Series also come like this, the large double kidney grille will be flanked by particularly narrow daytime running lights? The main headlights are one floor below. In general, one can expect a much more angular design with clear lines. The Hofmeister kink in the C-pillar should of course not be missing.

At the rear, the lights should be flatter, in our illustration they are reminiscent of the 2 Series Gran Coupé. Of course, the 5 Series is again available in two body styles: as a sedan and as a station wagon, which is mentioned at BMW Touring. The dimensions of both should grow slightly, to around five meters in length and 1.9 meters in width. In the interior, the G60 probably relies on the latest iDrive generation with the curved widescreen display already introduced in the iX electric SUV.

Hydrogen propulsion would also be possible

2023 BMW 5 Series

According to BMW boss Oliver Zipse, the latest generation of the CLAR platform will be launched in 2025. Since the G60-5 will be presented earlier, it is probably based on a further developed variant of the current CLAR generation. It allows all types of drive, from diesel to electrified gasoline engines to all-electric cars. More mildly electrified gasoline engines, plug-in hybrids with a long electric range, and diesel with more efficient exhaust gas after-treatment are to be expected. In purely theoretical terms, a hydrogen drive would even be conceivable, which BMW will also use in small series in the X5 from 2022.

Power: Electric M5 with more than 1000 hp?

There will also be an M5 from the next BMW 5 Series. According to the British ” Car magazine “, two drive options should be available for the first time, both with all-wheel drive. The “classical” part could be a plug-in hybrid with a V8 Biturbo and 750 hp take as well in X8 M will be used. A planned E variant with three electric motors seems even more exciting.

2023 BMW 5 Series

The Munich-based company has already demonstrated such a drive with the 720 hp Power BEV concept vehicle. In the series, the system output should even be over 1000 hp. That’s a huge amount, but still, less than the plaid version of the Tesla Model S will have. The motors are to be fed by a 135 kWh battery, which could enable a range of around 700 kilometers. Taycan 800 volts However, tension should not follow until a later point in time. It remains to be seen whether a possible electric M5 will come as an offshoot of the regular 5 Series or whether it will even be combined with the i-Label. The new 5 Series should be presented at the end of 2023, with the M.
