The 2024 Ford Mustang (S650) is already a reality. The new generation of the quintessential pony car has seen the light at the 2022 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Probably, and much to our regret, it will be the last to follow the recipe of the original 1964 model. The same will happen with the powerful V8 engine that it still has.
The design has evolved to win the sales chart battle against the Dodge Challenger but remains inspired by its ancestors built between 1964 and 1970. It’s instantly recognizable as a Mustang, but we can see new tri-stripe LED headlights.
It is offered in Fastback (coupé) and Convertible bodywork. The first of them stand out for a longer roof line. According to Ford, it has been created to make it easier to get in and out of when wearing a helmet. This is indicative that the blue oval firm has put all the meat on the grill with the performance and driving dynamics of the 2024 Mustang.
The differences between the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and the 5.0-liter GTs are now more palpable. V8s have 19-inch wheels (17- inch EcoBoost) and a different front-end design. The upper part is divided into three sections; while the lower air intakes are larger to feed the 32-valve engine.

There’s also no shortage of new hood vents and a redesigned front splitter. The Bronze Design Series styling package and an optional Performance Pack are offered for both. This includes a front clamp, Torsen LSD differential, 390mm front and 355mm rear Brembo brakes; and wider rear wheels and tires.
As an option, they can add MagneRide adaptive dampers, Recaro seats, and an active exhaust. Under the hood, Performance Pack GTs also get brake cooling ducts, an oil cooler, “Active Pothole Mitigation” and an electronic skid brake. It looks like a traditional handbrake, but it operates the rear brakes with electric motors.

In Ford’s words, it’s ” designed for novice drivers to learn and improve their drifting skills .” Some interesting options for the 2024 Mustang are the three available colors for the brake calipers and 11 paint colors for the body. They can be complemented with new colors and strip designs.
2024 Ford Mustang Interior

The biggest and most significant changes to the 2024 Ford Mustang are inside. Unfortunately, the model follows the current market trend and bets everything on screens. Goodbye to precious oversized dials. The sports car has a high-resolution configurable digital instrumentation. Its standard size is 12.4 inches.
It can be expanded up to 13.2 inches as an option, integrating Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto thanks to Ford’s SYNC 4 software. The system receives the Unreal Engine 3D technology present in many video games. The goal is to offer unrivaled graphics and performance. Virtually everything is handled from the touch screen. Only a few buttons remain for basic functions.

Other updated features include a flattened steering wheel, optional wireless smartphone charging, and a full suite of safety and driver-assistance systems. They include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and reverse braking assistance. The standard seats are cloth, but leather is also offered.
Keeps the 4-cylinder and the V8, but is more powerful
Luckily, the rumors that spoke of some type of electrification in the Ford Mustang 2024 have not materialized. Of course, there are no great advances at the mechanical level, the four-cylinder 2.3-liter EcoBoost and the 5.0-liter V8 remain. We know that they have increased in power, although for now the figures have not been revealed.

Ford notes that the V8 has an ” innovative dual air intake box and dual throttle body ” that improves airflow. He claims that the V8 will be the most powerful in the Mustang GT. In other words, it will have more than 460 hp, which is what the current GT offers. The EcoBoost will also improve its current 314 hp.

Associated with both engines we can find the well-known 10-speed automatic transmission or the six-speed manual gear lever with rev adjustment software. The new Mustang will go on sale in the United States from the summer of 2023, so in Europe, it should arrive before the end of next year.
