Audi A3 e-Tron will be Audi’s cheapest electric car

Audi is looking to position itself for the future as a purely electric brand. But at the moment the high costs and lack of supplies place it in the highest segment, and it is even eliminating small and medium-sized combustion proposals, such as the A1 and the Q2 compact SUV that will be removed from the offer once its life is over. Useful. The access position will be occupied by the Audi A3 E-Tron, which will finally be the cheapest option and according to the German media, will arrive earlier than estimated.

It was planned that the Audi A3 E-Tron would start its journey in the second half of 2027. But the latest news indicates that the plans within the brand of the rings have changed and this will be produced in 2026, with a public presentation and opening of orders in 2025.

In this way, Audi’s electric range will have the A3 as the most accessible alternative. A compact electric car that will use the new Volkswagen Group SSP platform, which will allow it to accommodate a larger capacity battery without loss of interior space or in the cargo area.

The A3 e-Tron will be the brother of the second generation CUPRA Born and Volkswagen ID.3 and will feature an 800V architecture. Something that should translate into a fast-charging capacity in the direct current of more than 200 kW.

In terms of price, it is expected that despite being Audi’s cheapest electric car, it will be placed above its cousins from the Volkswagen group, such as the VW ID.3 or the Cupra Born. Depending on the configuration, the electric A3 can be expected to start between 45,000 and 50,000 euros.

Audi is also expected to offer a configuration plus with more powerful versions and four-wheel drive, inheriting the brand’s experience with this type of configuration.
