2022 Audi A6 Facelift, Photos and Details

With the Audi A6 facelift, the blockbuster from Ingolstadt 2022 gets a big update. We already know that about the revised C8 generation, its interior, and engines.

At the start of the Audi A6 Facelift at the beginning of 2022, the Ingolstadt-based company is sticking to the tried and tested graduation with A6, sporty S6, and an even stronger RS 6. Another type of designation returns – the Allroad Quattro. The basis is the A6 Avant, which not only appears properly with its increased suspension travel and robust attachments on the front, sills, rear, and wheel arches but is also positioned relatively high with a large number of standard extras.

The C8 generation, introduced in mid-2018, is currently rolling off the assembly line as a stately, 4.94-meter long sedan (as a 163 hp 2.0 TDI from 48,090 euros) and as an Avant of the same length (from 50,590 euros, as of April 2021). The wide range of drives extends from the four-cylinder petrol engine (265 hp) to the 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine (340 hp), the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel (163, 204, 245 hp), and the 3, 0-liter V6 diesel (286, 344 PS) up to two plug-in hybrid variants (299, 367 PS). In the future, all combustion engines used will be mild hybrids.

The use of 48-volt electrical systems, as it is currently only practiced in V6 combustion engines, is to be expanded to other engines. The new range target for purely electric driving increases to around 100 kilometers. More does not make sense because the batteries required for this in the Audi A6 Facelift (2022) would be too heavy and too large in terms of their weight and the required installation space. The hybridization of the powerful RS 6 is possible, but not confirmed, to gain more dynamism via wheel-selective electric drives, for example. as it is currently only practiced with the V6 combustion engines, is to be expanded to other engines.

2022 Audi A6 Interior

The Audi A6 Facelift (2022) is of course still based on the modular longitudinal construction kit developed by Audi for vehicles with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and motors installed lengthways to the direction of travel – and this will not be converted to a complete electric drive. Further innovations of the C8 generation concern the expanded capabilities of assistance systems and the possibility of autonomous driving on level 3, as the Audi A8 could already do, but is not allowed due to the applicable laws.

At this level of “conditionally automatic driving”, the driver does not have to constantly monitor the system. The car drives itself, but the human driver must be able to intervene at any time upon request. In the interior of the Audi A6 Facelift (2022), a central touchscreen will replace the two separate monitors. The number of displays should be reduced and adapted to the respective driving situation. There is also a new head-up display that appears to project information and graphics into the real traffic situation (augmented reality).
