The study vehicle of the Audi Q4 e-Tron was presented in March 2019, and the official premiere finally took place on April 14, 2021. We have pictures and current information about the Q4 e-Tron and the Q4 E-Tron Sportback for you.
Now the compact SUVs Q4 e-Tron and Q4 e-Tron Sportback have finally been officially presented. The new electric SUV comes onto the market with up to 306 hp and a range of more than 480 kilometers. Read on to find out all the details.

Audi has now presented the compact electric SUVs Q4 e-Tron and Q4 E-Tron Sportback. These new electric cars are smaller than the current e-Tron and will therefore be an alternative to the Mercedes EQA and Volkswagen ID.4. The Q4 e-Tron will go on sale in June 2021, the coupé version will follow later in the year.
New Audi Q4 e-Tron: technical data and exterior design
The conventional cars from Audi are characterized by hard edges and sharp folds, the e-Tron electric cars, on the other hand, are somewhat curvier. That is the case with the new Q4 e-Tron. Both versions are immediately recognizable by the bulky wheel arches and the huge front grille. It’s not a grille, of course, just a huge piece of plastic with a ring of silver-colored trim.
The air inlets in the corners of the front bumper are provided with a hook-shaped, silver trim strip that runs under the radiator grille and connects both sides – a detail that is unique to the Sportback.
The biggest difference to the Q4 e-Tron Sportback is of course the sloping roofline, which creates a coupé-like silhouette – just like the Audi Q3 Sportback, the Q8, and the larger e-Tron Sportback. Curiously, the Sportback has a two-part rear window with a central spoiler. It’s probably supposed to improve aerodynamics, but it won’t do much for the rearview.
Otherwise, the rear is identical to the rear of the regular Q4, with a band of taillights running across the entire width, a heavily sculpted bumper, and an illuminated e-Tron logo. The heavily camouflaged Sportback prototype shown here shows no particular details, but you can see that its proportions will be very similar to those of the study.
New Audi Q4 e-Tron: engines and driving behavior
The Q4 e-Tron and the Q4 e-Tron Sportback will be available with two-wheel and all-wheel drive. The all-wheel-drive versions have two electric motors, one for the front and one for the rear wheels. The rear motor does most of the work, but the front motor kicks in when more grip is needed or when you hit the accelerator pedal.
The most powerful version is available with an output of 299 hp. According to Audi, it sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 6.2 seconds. The 35 e-Tron has an output of 170 hp and only has one electric motor. The maximum speed of all models is limited to 160 or 180 km / h.
The battery pack of the Q4 e-Tron is located between the front and rear wheels, under the floor. This helps ensure that there is plenty of interior space and should prevent the tall body from leaning in tight corners.
Battery and range
There will be two battery variants and three drive variants for the Q4 e-Tron models so that everyone can find the right one for short and long-distance journeys. The Q4 35 e-Tron will have a 52 kWh battery, for the Q4 40 e-Tron and the 50 e-Tron the battery will have 77 kWh. According to Audi, the Q4 e-Tron and Q4 e-Tron Sportback have a range of up to 520 kilometers. For comparison, the Jaguar I-Pace has a range of around 480 kilometers, while Tesla claims that the Model Y Performance can do around 507 kilometers on a single charge.
The Q4 e-Tron is compatible with a wide variety of wall boxes and public chargers, including 125 kW fast chargers that can charge from 0-80% in around 30 minutes – if you can find one.
New Audi Q4 e-Tron: interior
Now we also know what the new Q4 e-Tron and Q4 e-Tron Sportback will look like inside. The interior looks similar to that of the larger e-Tron, with a few key changes. The steering wheel has a new design with a flat base and top, and the top models get paddle shifters that can be used to adjust the strength of the regenerative braking system.
There’s a new floating center console protruding from the dashboard, and Audi has confirmed that the new Q4 e-Tron will come standard with a 10.25-inch digital driver display and 10.1-inch touchscreen. If that’s too small for you, you can also get a larger 11.6-inch display on the dashboard for an additional charge.
All vehicles are expected to be equipped with smartphone mirroring and a navigation system. Audi will introduce a new augmented reality function in the Q4 e-Tron. Colorful arrows are shown in the head-up display, which leads directly to the desired exit or turn.
The Audi Q4 e-Tron will have a trunk volume of 520 liters. That is around 85 liters less than can fit in the Audi e-Tron and 23 liters less than a Volkswagen ID.4.
Prices and the start of sales
Now Audi has also announced prices and sales start. The Q4 e-Tron will be available for 41,900 euros, the Sportback version will cost from 43,900 euros. The e-Tron will go on sale in June 2021, while late summer is specified for the coupé variant.
With the market launch, there will be two Edition One models, which will be around 6,195 euros more expensive than the base price and have special paintwork and additional equipment.
