The BMW iX M60 is the most powerful version of the iX model and was presented on January 5th at the CES in Las Vegas. The electric SUV trumps enormous performance, excellent equipment, and typical M-specific design features. We have all the information for you.

  • The top version of the iX model
  • A most powerful variant of the flagship
  • 619 hp from two electric motors
  • Up to 566 kilometers range
  • Extensive standard equipment
  • Market launch from June 2022

Exterior design

As with the versions of the iX that are already available, the iX M60 is based on a sustainable concept and a progressive design. M-specific design features must of course not be missing so that the M60 can also be recognized as the top version. These include blue-painted brake calipers, the BMW Individual Exterior Line in Tatan bronze, M logos in a new version in black and titanium bronze, and other details in the interior.

Since it is more or less an M model, you can also expect M-specific driving characteristics. The chassis is tuned as one is used to from BMW M models and a two-axle air suspension with adaptive shock absorbers also ensures a balanced driving experience. The electric all-wheel drive ensures additional stability and you don’t have to do without sound – even if it cannot, of course, compete with the engine sound of the combustion models.

BMW made the IconicSound M sound specifically, which again happened this time together with the composer Hans Zimmer.

Technical data, engines, and range

With the iX M60, BMW has launched the third and most powerful model in the iX series. This statement can be substantiated by impressive figures. Two electric motors produce a total of 619 hp and the top speed is limited to 250 km / h – but it could certainly be significantly faster. After all, it is 50 km / h faster than the second-fastest version iX M50, so a significant increase.

In addition to the horsepower, there is also a torque of up to 1,100 Newton meters that catapults the M60 forward from a standing position, almost like a cannonball. It is therefore also possible for the SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds.

With all the enormous power, do you fear that the range will suffer? A legitimate thought, but that is not the case with the iX M60. With a single charge, it can travel up to 566 kilometers, which is perfectly suitable for everyday use. The battery has a gross energy content of 111.5 kWh and can be charged with an alternating current of up to 11 kW and a direct current of up to 20 kW. If you stop at a quick charging station for just ten minutes, you can recharge your batteries for up to 150 kilometers.

As you would expect, the iX M60 comes up trumps with a very extensive range of standard equipment. These include the laser light, the Live Cockpit Professional, convenient access, and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System. Active seat ventilation at the front and a thermal comfort package are also included.

To underline the M character, there are multifunctional seats, an anthracite-colored roof lining, and a curved display with the M logo in the interior.

As an electric car, the M60 should of course also be sustainable. That is why attention was paid to ecological and social sustainability not only in the production of the batteries but also in the interior. FSC-certified wood is used, the leather is tanned with olive tree leaf extract and, among other things, recycled fishing nets are used as the raw material for the floor coverings and floor mats.

Nothing will change in terms of trunk volume. Here the iX offers a load space of 500 liters, when the seats are folded down, 1,750 liters are available. As the picture shows, you can accommodate a lot.

BMW iX M60 prices and the start of sales

The iX M60 was presented on January 5th at the CES in Las Vegas. The market launch is planned for June 2022. What the top version of the iX should cost has not yet been communicated. The iX M50 costs from 100,000 euros, so we estimate that at least 130,000 euros could be due for the iX M60.
