BMW XM Hybrid SUV with 653 hp & Crazy style

The BMW Motorsport division, known simply as BMW M, has presented its first standalone model since the M1 supercar (1978-1981): the new XM, a radical high-performance SUV with which the department wants to celebrate its 50 years of history and prepare for the future, as it is a plug-in hybrid.

The BMW XM falls under the F segment (representation SUV), as it measures 5.11 meters long and has a wheelbase of 3,105 millimeters. Despite its colossal dimensions, its trunk holds 527 liters. Beyond an exterior design that will not leave anyone indifferent, the newcomer is characterized by the new M Hybrid propulsion system.

Our protagonist uses a 4.4 V8 M TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine with 489 hp and 650 Nm of torque, as well as an electric unit with 197 hp (145 kW) and 280 Nm. Combined with an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox, both engines produce 653 hp and 800 Nm. Of course, the car has M xDrive all-wheel drive as standard.

Thanks to this set, the BMW XM can complete the 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h (optionally it can be delimited to 270 km/h). The batteries for their part have 29.5 gross kWh (25.7 useful kWh) of capacity; that is, practically like some pure electrics like the Dacia Spring.

The BMW XM will be produced exclusively in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the USA for the entire world. Although it will begin to be manufactured in December, it will not reach the first customers until spring of next year. In addition, it has been confirmed that later the range will be completed with a Label Red version capable of squeezing the mechanics at 748 hp and 1,000 Nm.
