GMC has revealed the first details of the zero-emission SUV version of the new Hummer. With the off-road capabilities that have always characterized this model intact, its release date is still unknown.
With the official debut of the 100% electric SUV version of the renewed Hummer still in our minds, GMC has taken the opportunity to reveal a large amount of information in the form of photographs and various technical details. Thus, we have already seen many of them in the version with a rear box, although this new model has unique elements. For example, it is 23 cm shorter than the pickup version. Otherwise, it is the same as the pick-up model, where the design continues to be inspired by the first Hummers that appeared on the market, giving an appearance of extreme robustness.
We can say the same about the interior. With straight and horizontal lines, its display stands out on the 13.4 ” center console and the digital instrument panel with a 12.3 ” screen. It also has the UltraVision system made up of 18 cameras distributed around the exterior of the vehicle to aid in offroad driving. Added to this is a trunk capacity of up to 2,316 liters with the second row of seats folded. The General Motors Super Cruise assistance system will also be in each of the versions of the GMC Hummer EV, so it can offer semi-autonomous driving in areas that allow the use of this technology.
In terms of off-road performance, its 3.21-meter wheelbase, combined with an extremely short rear overhang (28 cm shorter than the pick-up) allows it to tackle any obstacle. It also includes an ‘extraction mode’ using which the bodywork is raised 15 cm, so that, as you can see in the video, it passes extreme descents and climbs without difficulty. Finally, it has an angle of attack of 49.5 degrees, ventral of 34.4 degrees, and departure of 49 degrees.
Hummer EV 0-100 km / h in 3.5 seconds
Being a shorter version compared to the Hummer pick-up, the space for the batteries is less, going from 24 to 20 modules. It is still a beast in terms of performance, or offering its triple electric unit power of 830 hp and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds. On the other hand, the battery will be capable of delivering a range of more than 480 kilometers.
For those who need a source of power wherever they go, the Hummer SUV is capable of providing 3 kW of power or even 6 kW to help start another vehicle that has run out of power. Added to this is a customization program that will allow your customers to choose from more than 200 different elements.
With the Edition 1 (and its more than 1,000 hp) scheduled for 2023, GMC has not commented on when the SUV version will hit the market. Of course, they believe that it will sell significantly more than the pickup.
