Hyundai shows new details of the Ioniq 6

Hyundai has released a new series of previews of its upcoming electric sedan, the IONIQ 6. This model, which will be officially presented on July 14 during the Busan Motor Show, could replace the Sonata in the Korean manufacturer’s lineup, standing up to rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 or the Volkswagen ID. Aero.

Although its design will be radically different from that of the already well-known IONIQ 5, in the teasers we can see that both will share an element that will quickly identify them as products of the same brand: the Parametric Pixel optical groups. In addition, in one of the published images it can be seen that this model will also have digital mirrors; that is, with cameras that will replace the classic mirrors.

Another very interesting detail will be the third brake light integrated into the spoiler genre that will preside over the rear. On the other hand, the company has also shown the third window and the pronounced fall of the roof, whose slope is more reminiscent of a coupé than that of a traditional sedan.

Described as an “electrified streamliner”, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is likely to become one of the most streamlined cars on the market by the time it is released. Its lines will be inspired by the lines of the suggestive Prophecy Concept prototype, which was compared at the time with proposals such as the Porsche Taycan.

This advanced car will measure 4.86 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, and 1.50 meters high; In addition, it will have a generous wheelbase of 2.95 meters. It will be based on the E-GMP modular platform, and it is expected to have two battery packs: one with 58 kWh and the other with 77.4 kWh capacity.

With the latter, it could approach 600 km WLTP of autonomy, a figure similar to that achieved by the Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD (614 km WLTP). Its 800-volt electrical system will allow it to charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes, reaching a maximum power of 239 kW in direct current. These specifications are identical to those of models such as the Genesis GV60 or the KIA EV6, based on the same architecture.

How could it be otherwise, in addition to rear-wheel-drive versions, it will also have all-wheel-drive variants. Later the range will be completed with the arrival of a high-performance model N, which could exceed 500 horsepower, thus surpassing the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Volkswagen ID. Aero GTX.
