Jaguar prepares to say goodbye to combustion engines

Jaguar is too stopped, it needs to renew its catalog or offer something that stands out from its rivals. However, the brand is currently working on its electric transformation, which will take place from 2025, and for this reason, it has already begun to say goodbye to its combustion engines. And best of all, there will be a special farewell version, using the well-known high-performance V8 as its heart, which animates its most performance versions.

To say that Jaguar is facing the most radical and important transformation in its history is to highlight the obvious because, in reality, all brands have to face this situation while deciding what will finally happen in 2035 with combustion engines. There are brands that, whatever happens, will take the path of electricity, as is the case with Audi, DS Automobiles, and yes, also Jaguar. At the moment, the British firm is the only one that has announced a farewell to the combustion engine in style (Dodge will do something similar with its Muscle Cars ).

When electrification is adopted, Jaguar will change far beyond the technology used by its engines. The British want to emulate their compatriots from Rolls-Royce and Bentley, monopolizing their models, their quality, and the luxury incorporated into each creation, to what these two brands offer. That is, Jaguar wants to stop being premium to be a “super luxury” brand. It is not something that can be achieved overnight, far from it, but we will see what happens.

The first step will be to say goodbye to combustion engines and for this, a more powerful version of your V8 is not a bad idea. This is at least what Nick Collins, Jaguar’s product manager, said during an interview for Autocar magazine. According to his own words, he is preparing a series of special launches that will have a greater sportiness and more exclusivity as their hallmark. In addition, we cannot ignore the fact that in 2023, Jaguar turns 75, more than enough reason for a celebration in style.

Jaguar F-Type

The first version to hit the market will be on the Jaguar F-Type, which will also serve as a “swan song” for the model and the manufacture of combustion engines. There is no data in this regard, so everything we can comment on is mere speculation, although there are things that are already customary, such as a limited print run, and specific finishes and to all this, we must add the review and enhancement of the V8 engine. As if that were not enough, it will be the last Jaguar with a combustion engine and also the last Jaguar with a V8 engine.
