Lamborghini Urus S Powerful and Radical

Lamborghini has presented the new Urus S, which becomes the immediate successor to the first Urus, and makes the self-styled “super SUV” an even more radical car if that possibility were possible. From Sant’Agata Bolognese they have opted to increase its power, which reaches diabolical heights, adjustments to the chassis to achieve more extreme sensations, and aesthetic tweaks that, added to new design options, increase its customization possibilities.

Before getting into the matter, it is worth remembering that the Lamborghini Urus has meant unprecedented success for the Italian brand and already represents more than half of its sales. Last year, of the 8,405 units that Lamborghini sold worldwide -13% more than in 2020 and a historical record-, 5,021 were Urus in any of its versions. That is, six out of every 10 Lamborghini sold in 2021 were units of its SUV.

The most striking novelty of the new Urus S is probably the increase in the power of its V8 Biturbo engine, which reaches 666 CV, to match the power of the Urus Performante, and the 850 Nm of maximum torque, which improves the weight ratio. / power up to 3.3 kilos per CV. In addition, its performance also improves, with acceleration from 0 to 100 in 3.5 seconds, from 0 to 200 in 12.5 seconds, and reaching a maximum speed of 305 km/h. It reaches maximum torque at 2,300 laps and maintains it until 6,000, thus offering its maximum strength for much of the rev counter.

Along with the increase in power, Lamborghini has tweaked the chassis to make it even more extreme. In that sense, there are not many details, but the Italian company claims to have used the same calibration of the propulsion system of the Urus Performante and that the chassis adjustments have focused on achieving a good degree of comfort in relaxed driving and maximum stability in sports driving. The driver will have the usual driving modes of the model: StradaSportCorsa, and Ego, to alter his behavior at will and three offroad modes: TerraNeve, and Sabbia, to adapt the traction system to the ground conditions.

The new Lamborghini Urus S not only comes with a more powerful engine but also receives an aesthetic facelift to differentiate itself from its predecessor, although the changes are not too obvious. Starting with the interior, Lamborghini announces a renewed offer of colors and trims, with a new option called Bicolor Sophisticated with new stitching patterns seen in the Urus Performante and with the Sportivo Bicolor interior being more discreet. Among the new colors for the contrast stitching will be Leandro Blue and Aura Green.

The same interior design and its digital ecosystem based on three screens are maintained, one for the digital instrument panel, another for its infotainment system, with connected navigation and connectivity with the most common mobile phones and with smartwatches -which can serve as a virtual key for the car-; and the last one for air conditioning.

The exterior, meanwhile, receives a new front bumper design, with a more refined and elegant approach, a new lightweight carbon fiber hood with matt black or optional gloss black vents, and a rear bumper. redesigned also looking for a more elegant touch. The series wheels will be 21 inches, but there will be new designs of 22 and 23 inches. As usual in the brand, an impressive catalog of colors, trims, wheels, design packages, and specific details will be made available to the buyer to change almost any aspect of the Urus S and customize it to your liking.

The new Urus S will be available in Europe for a price, excluding taxes, that will start at 195,538 euros and will rise to what the buyer’s imagination allows.
