Lucid Gravity reveals first preview and details

Lucid Motors is moving forward on the road. The Air has just presented all the versions of the range, and incidentally, the Americans have presented the first preview of their next model, the Lucid Gravity, an SUV that will arrive in a few months.

With the entire Lucid Air family in full, it’s time to look to the future. Lucid Motors has gone through hard times in which many have doubted its future. The Air has left a good taste in the mouth, but it is only the appetizer of what is to come. The next model on the list is Lucid Gravity. Much has been said about it, but this is the first time that the Americans present us with an image of what it will be like and not as a prototype. In addition, by the way, they give us some first details that make it clear that it will be one of the most advanced electric cars in the world.

Since the birth of Lucid Motors, its director, Peter Rawlinson, has made it clear that he intends to offer the most advanced electric vehicles in the world, although that concept is out of the pocket of most of us. Technically speaking, the Air offers cutting-edge technologies that are on the way to being replicated and improved in the second model of the house. The Gravity will be shown in an SUV format with a collection of improved systems compared to the sedan which already has a couple of years of history.

Thanks to the first official image we can discover that on an aesthetic level Lucid does not pose a revolution. Although the format will change, the design DNA is evident in a very clean front in terms of shapes and details. Small headlamps joined by a strip of LEDs, bulky bumpers for that SUV look and discreet side scoops to add to the sense of width. In the rearview, we can also see that the usual LED strip is still present, although in this case, it is worth noting the large spoiler that protrudes from the tailgate.

A large format is expected, measuring more than five meters long, which will allow it to fight with other models such as the Tesla Model X, the Mercedes EQS SUV, or the recent Volvo EX90It will have three rows of seats, where the central row will offer a space of great comfort with two business-type seats with recline and some other knick-knacks. At the moment nothing has been revealed about the presentation of the dashboard, although we assume that Lucid will replicate part of the format that we have already known in Lucid Air.

Although no one from the company has ventured to provide definitive data, Rawlinson himself has left some first brushstrokes on the table. The Lucid Gravity will improve the propulsion technology of the Air, and its battery format will allow it to offer a range greater than that of any other electric car in the world. Will it overcome the barrier of 1,000 kilometers of range? The truth is that it is not known, but it should exceed the border of 500 miles, about 800 kilometers, currently reached by the Air.

In its favor, it has the possibility of integrating a larger battery pack, although we do not know the final size of the battery. The good thing is that we will not have to wait long to reveal each new detail since Lucid Motors has announced that the final presentation will take place early next year. At that precise moment, the order catalog will open, although production is not scheduled to start until the end of the year or the beginning of next year. Once again the assembly will take place at the Casa Grande factory in Arizona.
