Maserati Quattroporte will be fully electric

The current Italian representation sedan will be updated in 2024. As the only mechanical alternative, it will present an electric drive, with which it hopes to cover a greater range of customers.

The Maserati Quattroporte is one of the most mythical models of the brand since its original launch dates back several decades. In 2024 the model will be completely updated with a new generation, which will arrive under a single electric motorization, thus abandoning the gasoline engines used until now. It will also be the first model with this type of bodywork to arrive under complete electrification and, of course, along with the surname “ Folgore ” (“lightning” in Italian).

In recent months, Maserati has been channeling its model range toward full electrification. Good examples of this are the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore or the Maserati Grecale Folgore, in addition to others that will arrive later, such as the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore or the Maserati MC20 Cielo Folgore. And the most eco-friendly range will increase significantly in the coming years.

The Maserati Quattroporte Folgore will continue to be the brand’s representative sedan (as has been the case until now). By price, it will be located between the Maserati Levante, which will also be updated in 2025 with a 100% electric variant, and the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore.

The new model will remain the only option within the range of Maserati saloons, since the Maserati Ghibli, which is currently presented as the vehicle of access to these bodies, will end its production in 2024 without expected relief. That is why the new electric Quattroporte will seek to cover a greater range of customers through more accessible mechanics and others with better capabilities.

Maserati wants to position its Italian electric saloon as a rival to the Mercedes EQE  and also to the BMW i7, models that play in different segments. This will be achieved through the aforementioned mechanics but also thanks to finishes more focused on one clientele or another. Maserati’s global product manager, Massimo Capaldi, assured the Autocar media that this will be something more normal shortly. “With electric cars, everything is changing. The segments cross each other

The electric representation saloon will make use of the platform debuted by the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, which has been designed to favor weight optimization, with the battery placed in a “T” shape along the platform. The Quattroporte Folgore will offer rear or all-wheel drive mechanics. In the case of the most powerful, it is expected to comfortably exceed 600 hp, while the entry variant could do the same from about 300 hp.

Its price is expected to be above 130,000 euros for the access variant, while the most equipped and performance version could cost more than 200,000 euros. Let us remember that the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will start its offer at around 180,000 euros, while the update of the Maserati Levante in its electric variant could do the same from 120,000 euros.
