For the 2022 model year, Mercedes will be giving the A-Class a facelift. The first slightly camouflaged prototypes are currently on their way.
Mercedes is giving the A-Class a facelift! The current A-Class with the internal construction code W 177 has not been on the market for a long time, but Mercedes is already preparing the compact for the second model cycle. The photographers have a prototype caught. At first glance, not many changes!
The fourth generation of the A-Class did not come onto the market until spring 2018. After the predecessor, the W 176, had made a clear step away from the retired image and towards the sporty compact, the W 177 picked up exactly there. With the newly introduced MBUX multimedia system, the A-Class not only revolutionized the compact class.
To this day, the frequently updated MBUX is still considered a benchmark in many areas. In addition, the A-Class engine range is very extensive and, in addition to four-cylinder diesel and gasoline, three AMG versions ( A 35 with 306 hp, A 45 with 387 hp, and A 45 S with 421 hp ) and a plug-in-hybrid ( A 250 e) includes. In addition, the A-Class was also offered for the first time in Europe as the V 177 sedan.
After almost exactly three years of construction, Mercedes is preparing the A-Class for the second model cycle. This is proven by the prototypes that the photographers caught on a test drive. Since the facelift, or Mopf as it is so nicely called at Mercedes, is not expected until the model year 2022, the spyshot are still at an early stage of development. Accordingly, the visual changes are very manageable at the moment. In the prototype, only the radiator grille is camouflaged. If you look closely, you will see the centrally placed radar sensor.
This could be an indication that Mercedes is expanding its already extensive range of driver assistance systems. The interior should remain largely unchanged, the widescreen cockpit will be retained. Occasional functions for MBUX may still be added, but even after around three years on the market, the A-Class is still perfectly networked.
Mercedes A-Class 2022 Price
Even if the model updates at Mercedes have recently been rather manageable, one or the other change can be expected until the market launch of the A-Class facelift in 2022. Depending on whether and to what extent Mercedes is adding standard equipment, the price is likely to rise slightly. The 109 hp A 160 is currently available from dealers for 27,971 euros.
