Mercedes-Benz has presented the new EQE SUV, a 4.86 meter-long electric SUV called to compete in the E segment (executive SUVs) against models such as the Audi e-Tron, the BMW iX, the Polestar 3 or the Volvo EX90. This model sits on the EVA 2.0 platform, the same one that we can already find in the EQE, EQS, and EQS SUVs.
The firm of the star affirms that the EQE SUV is one of the most aerodynamic models in its category since it has a coefficient of just 0.25. From an aesthetic point of view, we could consider it a cross between the EQE sedan (headlights) and the EQS SUV (silhouette); not surprisingly, it has shared development with the latter. Its range of tires ranges from 19 to 22 inches.
Although as standard it incorporates 10.25-inch digital instrumentation and a 12.4-inch central touch screen, it can optionally be equipped with the gigantic MBUX Hyperscreen OLED panel, which covers the entire width of the dashboard and is made up of three screens (12-inch instrumentation .3 inches, 17.7-inch touch screen, and 12.3-inch co-pilot panel). The MBUX system integrates updates via OTA.
Unlike the EQS SUV, the new EQE SUV is exclusively available with five seats, as a version with seven is not contemplated. Its trunk covers 520 liters (1,675 liters with the seats folded down); In addition, it can tow between 750 and 1,800 kg depending on whether we opt for a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive version.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will begin deliveries in April 2023
As standard, it incorporates elements such as the THEMATIC two-zone climate control (the four-zone THERMOTRONIC is optional) or the rear steering wheels capable of turning up to 4.5º (up to 10º optionally). The EQE SUV offers several levels of retention for the regenerative braking system, including one that is automatic and one that allows for so-called “one-pedal driving”.
The electric motors used are of the permanent magnet synchronous type. The 10-module battery pack with NCM 811 cells is the same in all versions ( 90.6 kWh capacity ). The heat pump is included as standard. In terms of charging, the EQE SUV can reach a maximum of 11 kW in alternating current (22 kW as an option) and 170 kW in direct current.
The range will initially consist of five variants :
- 350+: 292 CV (215 kW), 565 Nm, tracción trasera, patient 590 km WLTP
- 350 4MATIC: 292 CV (215 kW), 765 Nm, tracción total, patient 558 km WLTP
- 500 4MATIC: 408 CV (300 kW), 858 Nm, tracción total, patient 547 km WLTP
- AMG 43 4MATIC: 476 CV (350 kW), 858 Nm, tracción total, patient 488 km WLTP
- AMG 53 4MATIC+: 687 CV (505 kW), 1,000 Nm, patient 470 km WLTP
The sporty Mercedes-AMG versions include a more aggressive body kit with a vertical louver grille and 21-22-inch wheels, a sports steering wheel, seats upholstered in ARTICO man-made leather with MICRO CUT microfiber and red stitching, the running gear AMG Ride Control+ with air suspension and adaptive damping…
Although the AMG 53 4MATIC+ delivers 626 hp (460 kW) and 950 Nm as standard, with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus pack it reaches 687 hp (505 kW) and 1,000 Nm. The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will be manufactured in Tuscaloosa (United States) together with the EQS SUV. The order book will open at the end of the year, while the first deliveries will take place in April 2023.
