MG4 Electric platform

The MG4 is based on the completely new MSP platform developed by the parent company SAIC, especially for Europe. MG4 Electric is currently completing a 120,000-kilometer endurance test under a wide variety of conditions.

The modular architecture enables many advantages in terms of space utilization, flexibility, and weight savings. Wheelbases between 2.65 and 3.10 meters are not a problem, which should allow different body styles in the future.

Accordingly, the platform is important for MG’s growth strategy in Europe.

MG4 Electric battery and motors

Due to the low vehicle height, very flat batteries can be used. SAIC Motor developed these, with a height of 110 mm they are currently the thinnest in their class. There will initially be two battery capacities to choose from for the MG4. Once 51 kWh and 64 kWh. This means that ranges of between 350 and 450 kilometers are possible.

Other MG4 variants are planned, and there should also be an all-wheel drive. The output of the version with the smaller battery is 125 kW, with the larger one 150 kW is possible. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than eight seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h.

One pack battery system

The innovative battery allows very effective use of space. The cooling system has also been redesigned. Accordingly, the one-pack battery offers several advantages: it can be integrated very well, has a very long service life, and safety protection against thermal runaway.
