One of the darlings of the Geely empire is Polestar, a heavily Volvo-influenced but Chinese-made brand that is now devoted entirely to electric cars. After the first model, the Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid, right now its catalog is exclusively nourished by the Polestar 2. Considering it only has one model, it’s not having a bad performance.
The “polar star” has published delivery results, 21,200 cars in the first half, which represents a year-on-year increase of 125%, since in 2021, in the same period, they delivered 9,510 cars. And the results would have been even better had no “COVID zero” lockdown, exclusive of China to the rest of the world, taken place. Polestar is confident of reaching the target of 50,000 cars in 2022 by making up for a lost time.
At the beginning of the year, its order list exceeded 50,000 units, so having guaranteed demand, it is already a matter of the factory getting its act together. The commercial presence has grown, it is now present in 25 countries (19 at the beginning of the year), with 125 points of sale and another 30 that will open before the end of the year. Product tests have tripled (+210%), and the brand believes that interest in its product is increasing.
Right now the most exclusive that the brand offers is the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270, a limited and vitaminized edition of its only model aimed at a more gourmet public. In Spain, its rates start at 78,400 euros and it will be ultra-exclusive because between Spain and Portugal not even five units will arrive. It does not stand out much for its power, 476 CV/350 kW, but it does stand out for its set-up.

Starting in October, another model, the Polestar 3 SUV, will be available for order only in the United States and China for the time being. At the moment we know that it will have a WLTP autonomy of up to 600 kilometers and the same range of engines as the Polestar 2. Logically, it will be more expensive for being an SUV, as well as it will have greater demand, prices will be communicated later.
Polestar debuted on the stock market a few days ago, although it is a value that remains practically flat after having risen 30% and fallen in a short time
The SUV will help Polestar to grow in volume if the factory can handle it since they intend to reach a volume of 290,000 cars per year in 2025, which means multiplying their 2021 deliveries by 10. Two models remain to be revealed until 2024, Polestar 4 and Polestar 5, of the latter we have a digital recreation.
