Porsche Taycan gets a software update

After three years on the market, the Porsche Taycan has received a major software update that allows all owners to bring their vehicles up to date and bring them up to par with those fresh from the factory. And completely free of charge.

This latest update can be applied to all versions of the sedan since the start of sales, resulting in greater autonomy, faster charging, and better connectivity.

What if, for now, customers will have to go to their nearest dealership to complete it, in an operation where aspects such as the inclusion of better thermal management of the battery pack stand out, which allows for improving autonomy and achieving faster-charging speeds. fast, especially in cold environments.

The update will also allow the front motor on all-wheel drive variants to be almost completely switched off in ‘Normal’ and ‘Range’ driving modes, reducing rolling resistance and thereby increasing real range.

Another novelty that will undoubtedly be of great pleasure to customers is the update of the vehicle’s internal charger, which will allow it to double the charging power in alternating current. This means that the Taycan will be able to go from the current 11 kW to 22 kW. An aspect that will allow you to take full advantage of the accelerated points that we find in places such as shopping malls.

This update also gets into the improvement of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system, which now has wireless Android Auto and integrated Spotify, which are added to the already present Apple CarPlay, and that in addition to more colorful menus, manages to improve the operation of the voice control system.

With the Vehicle Unlocking (FoD) feature now all Taycan models can now add this keyless entry (Comfort Access) feature for the doors and tailgate.

Elsewhere, the Taycan has received an upgrade to its parking aid system, allowing it to park in smaller spaces, and the option of remote software updates (OTA) has also been added.

Some improvements that should help to recover the good direction of sales that in the first half of 2022 have seen their figures reduce by 4.77% compared to the first half of 2021, delivering 18,877 units worldwide, mainly due to the lack of components.
