The Renault Megane eVision series vehicle is due to hit the market as early as 2021. An exact date is not yet known. Renault has not yet announced prices, but if the electric Megane wants to assert itself against alternatives such as the Skoda Enyaq or the VW ID.4, the base price should be below 40,000 euros.

Engines and driving behavior

Renault has developed a very compact engine that takes up little space and can therefore provide more space in the interior. The power of the unit is 218 hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. The acceleration is typical for electric cars not bad, the Megane eVision should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in under eight seconds.

The CMF-EV platform (Common Module Family – Electric Vehicle) is designed in such a way that there would be space at the rear for a second motor, with which the eVision could then become an all-wheel drive. This option also allows other models to be introduced that have different engine outputs. There will certainly be more models.

A 60 kWh battery provides energy. The battery and motor are both water-cooled and excess heat is released into the interior for heating. Exact information on the range is not yet available, but we are assuming about 450 kilometers. The eVision can be charged at a fast-charging station with a charging capacity of up to 130 kW. Within just 30 minutes, enough electricity should be recharged for a range of around 200 kilometers.

Technical data and exterior design

According to Renault, the study vehicle of the Megane eVision should already be 90 percent similar to the production vehicle. The dynamic design combines SUV elements and hatchback components, and the study vehicle also shows muscular shoulders and drawn-in flanks.

The roof has a flowing design and is inclined in an arc shape and is gold. This color combination with gray and gold makes a very noble and high-quality impression. The pictures also show a striking bonnet with two air inlets and at the rear, the Megane lettering with the golden E at the end dominates the field of vision. The E is intended to refer to the electric drive.

The technical data of the Megane eVision show it to be compact but nevertheless generous in the interior:

The light signature is called Livinglights, an LED light band that extends across the entire width of the vehicle. The front of the eVision was designed largely closed because the cooling requirement of the electric drive is quite low. The grill is formed from narrow and vertical slats, which is a typical design element of the Morphoz study and was incorporated. The door handles, which are flush with the body, have an automatic opening mechanism. As soon as the driver approaches the eVision, the doors open.

Furthermore, the eVision greets the driver with a special light sequence, which brings out the outlines of the car even better. This includes that the surrounds of the side windows are illuminated and indirect light is shone into the rear. The greeting command belongs to a range of different Livingtech interactions. The focus here is on the relationship between passengers and vehicles.
