Exterior design
The facelift of the Karoq isn’t revolutionary it’s a little unspectacular. The visual changes are very subtle, so subtle that you have to look carefully to see any differences from the previous model.
Differences can be seen at the front because here the radiator grille has become wider and it now has hexagonal, vertical double ribs. The new and narrower headlights are also part of the facelift and can now for the first time also be ordered as matrix LED versions on request.
The air inlet has also been redesigned and the drag coefficient of the new Karoq is 0.30, which means that the air resistance has been reduced by a good deal. The integrated roof spoiler and the new aerodynamic rims also contribute to this.
The taillights have been reduced in size and are now fully LED lights as standard. Two new exterior colors, namely the “Phoenix Orange” and “Graphite Gray” already known from the Fabia, complete the visual changes.
In terms of dimensions, nothing changes, only the Karoq has got one centimeter more in length.
Skoda Karoq 2022 Interior
In the interior, you can now look forward to digital instruments as standard – this is a sensible change. The Virtual Cockpit is now offered as standard and can be ordered in two versions with 8 or 0.25 inches. You can also choose between four infotainment systems, which start with the smallest called Swing and end with the Columbus, which then has a 9.2-inch screen diagonal.
They also wanted to become more sustainable in the Karoq. That’s why you can choose the new and optional Eco-Package. Here you get vegan seat covers that you can’t tell from real leather in terms of touch. They are made from recycled PET bottles and parts of the seats and armrests are also made with mocha-brown microfiber details.
With the facelift, the rear passengers can now also enjoy LED ambient lighting on the inside and that’s about it by and large. The improved assistance systems make driving in the Karoq safer. The Travel Assist can now also be ordered in two different versions – but due to the ongoing lack of chips, Skoda is cautious and gives “later in 2022” as the delivery date for some assistants.
Engines
Hardly anything changes here. In terms of equipment, Active, Ambition, and Style are still set, only the Scout is no longer available – the demand was simply too low. But the top model Sportline is still available.
The Sportline is the only one to get the 190 hp 2.0-liter petrol engine with all-wheel drive and DSG. Otherwise, there is a three-cylinder petrol engine with 110 hp and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 150 hp. The diesel is also still supported, there is a 2.0-liter diesel with 116 hp or 150 hp, with the more powerful model optionally with all-wheel drive.
However, it is disappointing that there is no plug-in hybrid drive for the Karoq because we expected that the facelift would come with the Octavia iV’s engine. Skoda explains that they want to concentrate on developing pure electric models.
Skoda Karoq 2022 Price
The Karoq celebrated its digital premiere on November 30th and it should be available at car dealerships from 2022. Skoda has not yet communicated what it will cost, but we reckon that it could be around 1,000 euros more expensive and thus start at around 24,500 euros.
