SsangYong’s electrical offensive is underway. This major South Korean manufacturer is determined to accelerate its transition plans towards sustainable mobility and for this, it has released new details about the roadmap that it will follow in the coming years. Production of the SsangYong Korando e-Motion is already underway and will break into European dealerships later this year. However, the brand will go one step further in 2022 with the introduction of an electric second. It is the SsangYong J100 .

SsangYong’s upcoming electric vehicle is known by the internal code J100. A model that is called to play a leading role due to the features and novelties that it will bring. However, the brand assures and emphasizes that it will be faithful to the language and unique design style that has always characterized the South Korean company. Unfortunately, for now, there is not much information about it, although some sketches have been published that allow a glimpse of what it will look like.

SsangYong has chosen to accelerate the development process of upcoming electric. The company’s initial plans pointed to the launch of an electric car supported by a dedicated platform in 2024. That is, three years after the Korando e-Motion landed in our market. Finally, everything seems to indicate that this period has been reduced. However, SsangYong has not confirmed whether the J100 will make use of the aforementioned specific architecture for electrics.

It is described as a medium-size SUV but the truth is that the design that is glimpsed in the sketches that illustrate this article conveys an air more typical of an off-road vehicle. A strong, tough, and safe vehicle. All this seasoned with various details to enhance that country aspect that the customer of this type of vehicle is looking for to a large extent. Special attention should be paid to the front in which there are very thin and horizontal headlights that connect with the grill.

The hood has a high position and contrasts with the bumper in which we will find a bulky defense. The entire lower part of the body is protected by plastic bumpers and at the rear, the drivers have a vertical arrangement that slightly envelops the vehicle. By the way, it is also important to highlight the shape of the wheel arches.
