Nissan Confirms the Electric Micra

Nissan has released the first images of the sixth generation Micra, which will go on to be sold exclusively as electric. This movement will seek to boost sales of the small utility vehicle, which in its current version has seen its sales languish due to the high competitiveness of the B segment, one of the most important in the European market.

The new Nissan Micra will be based on the CMF-BEV modular platform and will derive directly from the Renault 5, from which it will take both its structure (in the images shared by the brand it can be seen that the profile of both will be practically identical) and its mechanical organs. , differing only by its exterior and interior aesthetics.

Like Renault, the Nissan will be produced in France; specifically, in the ElectriCity hub that the diamond firm has in the north of the country. Thanks to the use of the CMF-BEV platform, the 5 is expected to be 33% more affordable than the current ZOE, which will allow it to offer a starting price of 20,000 euros before aid. Micra rates are probably similar.

Since from a technical point of view they will be identical, we can expect the Japanese to be available with two battery packs, both with NCM (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) cells of Envision AESC origin. The first, with 40 kWh, will provide a range of approximately 300 km WLTP, while the second, with 52 kWh, will go to 400 km WLTP.

In both cases, the electric motor (made by Renault at Cléon) will produce 136 hp (100 kW). The maximum load power will be 130 kW in the direct current; In addition, it is very likely that it also has a 22 kW three-phase charger as an extra, as Renault is one of the few brands that offer this option.

Aesthetically, the new model will drink from the remembered third-generation Micra (2002-2010), from which it will take its rounded lines and bulbous round headlights. The roof and the A and B pillars will be painted in black, which will give it a more youthful appearance. In the images shared by Nissan, the illuminated logo and the aerodynamic design wheels also stand out. Since the Renault 5 will measure 3.92 meters and the current Micra goes to 3.99 meters, the new generation may be somewhat smaller than its predecessor.
