The Polestar 3 will be presented on October 12

Polestar will present its latest development, the Polestar 3 electric SUV, on October 12 at an event to be held in Copenhagen (Denmark). This model, based on the SPA2 modular platform, will have much in common with the forthcoming Volvo EXC90, from which it will differ by its sportier approach and by having two rows of seats instead of three.

“We had to ask ourselves: ‘what should a modern SUV look like?’ Polestar 3 defines the SUV for the electric age and, when designing it, we addressed some of the fundamentals of the archetype: proportions, posture, and aerodynamics”, explains Thomas Ingenlath, current CEO of the Scandinavian firm, in the official press release.

Conceived as a rival to the Porsche Cayenne, which will be fully electrified in the middle of the decade, the Polestar 3 will initially be available in two versions: Long Range Dual Motor and Long Range Dual Motor Perform. The first will have a drive train of 489 hp (360 kW) and 840 Nm, while the second will go to 527 hp (380 kW) and 910 Nm.

Both models will be able to reach a top speed of 210 km/h, while the 0-100 km/h will be 5 seconds for the “access” and 4.7 seconds for the Perform. Its 111 kWh capacity battery pack will provide them with a range of between 610 and 560 km under the European WLTP approval cycle.

The rear axle in both versions will have a torque vectoring system through a double clutch system. Dual-chamber adaptive air suspension and active dampers will come as standard.

“It is this instant ability to transform from a comfortable commuter to an agile performance car in less than the blink of an eye that makes the Polestar 3 special as an electric sports SUV. It also benefits from a low center of gravity and wide tracks for maximum stability and an exhilarating feeling behind the wheel.”

It is confirmed that in Spain the Polestar 3 will start at 92,900 euros, a figure that will rise to 99,500 euros in the Perform variant. On the other hand, it is expected that later the range will be enriched with the arrival of a less powerful version of about 400 hp, which will have somewhat lower rates (around 75,000 euros).
