Top 10 Long-Range Electric Cars of 2023

Anyone who wants to drive an e-car often worries that the range is too short, but are these concerns justified? The range will of course vary depending on whether you want a small car or a large SUV. We’ve compiled a list of the top 10 e-cars with the longest range for you.

The range of an electric car is still one of the most important purchase criteria. If you don’t just want to use an e-car as a second car, you also have to travel a few hundred kilometers. With a few exceptions, SUVs in particular are currently shining with a long-range, because they have the necessary space to install large batteries.

Mercedes EQS

We have a new top-range winner: The Mercedes EQS in the EQS 450 version achieves an unbelievable 766 km range. That’s another whopping 100 kilometers more than the best Tesla model – hats off to the electric car with the longest range!

Mercedes EQS

But the luxury electric sedan is also impressive in other respects: a wheelbase of 3.21 meters stands for plenty of space in the interior, with a trailer load of 750 kilograms you can at least tow a small trailer and 523 hp are also an announcement. The EQS reaches 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. However, you have to be able to afford the EQS.

Mercedes EQS SUV

Mercedes EQS SUV

The EQS SUV is a true giant – it is even the largest SUV that Mercedes has ever built. So it’s not surprising that a lot can be expected in terms of range. You should cover 664 kilometers with one charge, quite a bit less than with the EQS sedan – but that is due to the heavy weight of the SUV.

With a maximum charging capacity of up to 210 kW at a DC charging station, enough charge for 300 kilometers can be fed in within half an hour. Three charging programs can be set according to individual needs: standard, home, and work.

Tesla Model S

Tesla Model S Long Range

Not quite at the top, but it was close – no wonder – the Tesla Model S in the Long Range version. Tesla recently confirmed that the Plaid+ version with even more range will not be available. That’s why the Long Range version is now number one. With an output of 670 hp, this Model S version doesn’t have to hide either. The power comes from two high-performance electric motors, allowing the Model S to reach 100 km/h from a standing start in 3.2 seconds.

The Model S is a real touring sedan because the manufacturer specifies a range of around 652 kilometers for the long-range version. Some diesel has to dress warmly.

bmw ix

BMW iX

Second place goes to the new BMW flagship, which recently celebrated its premiere. The BMW in the xDrive50 version is not only powerful with 523 hp but also strong in terms of range. The built-in 112 kWh battery should cover a whopping 631 kilometers. If you not only want to drive electrically but also want to enjoy a lot of luxury at the same time, you’ve come to the right place.

Quality and workmanship are at a high level and the journey can be comfortable and safe. The latest technology is installed and every conceivable assistance feature is available as an option. From there the journey can begin.

Mercedes EQE

Mercedes EQE

With the EQE, Mercedes has launched its second electric sedan. It doesn’t come close to the range of the EQS, but 639 kilometers on one charge still secures the EQE a place on the winner’s podium. If you want to go on holiday in the slightly smaller limousine, you only have to refuel once at most, depending on the route.

It is also comfortable to drive, elegant, and sporty as well. Two Mercedes models in the first three places also say something about the good performance of the Stuttgart company.

BMW i7

BMW i7

Visually, the BMW i7 electric sedan is a case in itself: tiny headlights and a huge grill – but that’s a matter of taste. What is a decent range of up to 625 kilometers? This is thanks to the 101.7 kWh battery, which can be charged at a fast charging station with a maximum charging capacity of 195 kWh.

To ensure that the range does not drop dramatically in winter, the batteries are heated – this is not the case in every electric car.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

Hyundai Ioniq 6

Visually trimmed for aerodynamics, it splits opinions. However, what is crystal clear is the good range of up to 614 kilometers and a very low power consumption of 15.1 kWh per 100 kilometers. Thanks to 800-volt charging technology, charging is quick, because up to 350 kWh of charging power is possible – that is significantly more than most competing models have to offer.

Tesla Model 3

Tesla Model 3

Another Tesla model has been relegated to fifth place by BMW. The Model 3 in the Long Range version with all-wheel drive and dual motor can travel an estimated 614 kilometers on one charge. As the only Tesla model, the Model 3 can also benefit from the environmental bonus and save. Of course, if you use the top speed of 233 km/h permanently, you will probably only be able to cover half the range. Combined, the statement should fit.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford Mustang Mach-E

The Ford Mustang Mach-E hasn’t been on the market long and has already made it to 3rd place in the range comparison. With the specified range, you have to look twice before you believe what you see. The manufacturer states up to 610 kilometers, but only if you opt for the extended range version with an 88 kWh battery. The Ford crossover is pretty much on the heels of the Tesla top model.

Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron

Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron

The Q8 Sportback e-Tron with a coupé-like roof line is typically Audi sporty and dynamic. This roof shape also ensures that the Audi in this version gets a few kilometers further than the classic Q8 e-Tron. To be precise, we are talking about a range of up to 595 kilometers. That’s a bit behind the competition, but it’s still enough for a place in the top 10.
