The Vietnamese do not care about the stage, wherever they go they attract attention. The Los Angeles Hall has just opened its doors and we have already met its smallest and most economical model: the VinFast VF 6.
No one can deny that VinFast is acting quickly and precisely in the international electricity market. The Vietnamese brand has many ambitious expansion plans around the world, although it knows that success largely depends on offering affordable and popular cars. Until now we had known the largest, most luxurious, and most expensive units of the brand: VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9, but today the time has come to meet what will become its smallest and most economical model, the VinFast VF 6.
At first glance, it is clear that it shares the same design traits as its older brothers. The general design has been carried out by the Italian studio Torino Design. The great visual appeal cannot be denied with very marked lines and forceful volumes that manage to convey a great sense of packaging. Both in the front and the rear the lighting system stands out. Two powerful V-shaped LED strips come together in the company logo. Without a doubt, they will be easily identifiable when seen in the rearview mirror.
In terms of measures, the VF 6 is positioned as the model of access to the family. It is an SUV worthy of the European B segment, where we find other famous models such as the Opel Mokka-e and the Peugeot e-2008. Its measurements are perfectly located within the category: 4.24 meters long, 1.82 meters wide (without mirrors), and a height of 1.59 meters. To these dimensions, we must add a wheelbase of 2.73 meters, a generous measure that anticipates a good interior space, although for the moment the cargo volume of the trunk has not been detailed.
Behind closed doors, it is clear that VinFast is committed to minimalism and digitization. A single screen will focus all the attention of the occupants. A large display partially facing the driver for easy reading. Some small buttons at the bottom offer quick access to the main features such as navigation, air conditioning, or the sound system. In the security section, all the usual elements of the house will be included, highlighting a not at the discreet package of driving assistants.
In the mechanical section, VinFast proposes two different versions. The access model will be called VF 6 Eco. With autonomy still to be announced, this unit will offer a power of 174 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm. All the force will go to the front axle, although the size of the battery and what chemistry it will incorporate have not been specified either.
The top model will be the VF 6 Plus. With a single front engine, power increases to 201 horsepower with 310 Nm of torque. This unit should present somewhat less autonomy as performance increases.
At the moment those are all the details that VinFast has thrown out about its cheapest model. It must be taken into account that the largest units start from 43,600 euros for the European market. Taking into account that we are talking about a B-SUV, it would not be strange to think of a starting figure of around 25,000 euros for the access versions. At the moment there is no scheduled date for its arrival in Europe. The launch has just taken place in the United States, although as we have already told you, VinFast plans to launch four new models starting next year.
