VW ID.6 Prices and the start of sales
The ID.6 X and the ID.6 Crozz will not be seen in Europe because VW developed this electric SUV exclusively for China. The largest of the ID.family was officially presented at the Shanghai Motorshow 2021. It is not yet known when exactly the market launch in China will be and what price VW will call.
Engines and driving behavior
VW has specially adapted the ID.6 X and the ID.6 Crozz to the needs and wishes of Chinese customers. The SUV is based on the MEB platform and two battery versions are available: a small version with 58 kWh and a large version with 77 kWh. With the largest battery, according to NEDC, which is the Chinese version of our NEDC, a range of up to 588 kilometers should be possible. With the small battery, you can cover 436 kilometers on one charge.
The electric motors deliver between 132 to 225 kilowatts, which corresponds to 179 to 306 hp. If you choose the most powerful version, you get an electric motor on each axis. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is possible in 6.6 seconds and the top speed is 160 km / h.
Technical data and exterior design
In terms of design, the ID.6 is very similar to its smaller crossover sibling, the ID.4. But overall, the ID.6 looks like the VW Roomzz that was shown as a concept a few years ago. The massive front is adapted to the size of the ID.6 and the typical ID headlights are correspondingly larger. There are no cameras, but normal exterior mirrors and sliding doors are not found either, so the classic doors were chosen for the production vehicle.
The windshield is flat and the roof slopes gently back towards the rear. A quite large roof spoiler sits enthroned there.
A characteristic of the ID.6 is certainly its huge wheelbase of almost three meters. This promises an enormous amount of space in the interior and even when fully occupied with seven people you shouldn’t get claustrophobic.
VW ID.6 Interior and trunk
The ID.6 has enough space for up to seven people, so you have the feeling that the interior is like a lounge. The wheelbase has grown by a full 30 centimeters compared to the ID.4, which means that the third row of seats can be installed. If you want, you can adjust the second row of seats lengthways.
There will be four equipment versions, a panoramic glass roof is always included as standard. If you want the sunroof version, you have to pay a little extra. There is also an optional track-projecting head-up display and the interior is designed without buttons. The car is only operated via the infotainment system and the associated 12-inch display.
