  • Electric alternative to the Passat

Exterior design

VW has new design sketches for the upcoming ID. Released Aero. As you can see, a lot of emphases is placed on aerodynamics and elegance. In the pictures, the Aero looks quite long and overall very large. It will be in the mid-range segment and will probably be 4.96 meters long, 1.90 meters wide, and 1.53 meters high.

The electric sedan is based on the modular electric drive system – like all VW ID models. There is no longer a radiator grille because it is no longer needed in an electric car. The front part of the hood is lowered and then raised a little. This is probably for aerodynamic reasons so that the air can be guided better over the roof.

Test cars were also on the road and already show the typical ID. design. Flowing, clear and elegant – this is how you can describe the ID. Aero is probably the easiest way to describe it. What strikes you at first glance is the very eye-catching front apron. The daytime running lights illuminate the way from the side.

VW ID. Aero interior

No pictures of the interior are known yet, but we assume that the interiors of the ID. models that are already available for sale will be used as a guide. In addition, the company is committed to sustainability and also offers leather-free options for the interior made from sustainable raw materials such as AppleSkin, an artificial leather that is made from the residues of apple production.

But that’s not certain yet, we have to wait a little longer.

Engines

The Aero will be available in sedan (and maybe estate) versions. The range should be around 700 kilometers – so it is suitable for everyday use and travel.

The model will be offered with rear-wheel drive as standard, but there will certainly be a faster and all-wheel-drive GTX performance model later. This should then create the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. As a rear-wheeler, the Aero needs around 8.5 seconds.
