Since 1975 between us, more than 18 million units sold and manufactured in Spain. The Volkswagen Polo, a ‘popular classic’ shows us what the restyling of half its sixth generation is like.

Although we talk about a facelift, the Volkswagen Polo has received improvements in design, technology, and equipment. In terms of appearance, the ‘new’ Polo shows the new design in the bumper, the boot lid, the LED headlights, which are now standard, and the rear light clusters.

For the first time, the radiator grille crossbar is also part of the striking light signature as an LED strip in combination with the Matrix IQ.LIGHT headlamps, also new to the Polo (as an option). And it is that the design of the electric models, the ID, is on everyone’s lips, due to its extreme futurism, something that they have not been able to overlook when retouching a model that is strongly approaching the fiftieth anniversary.

As for the interior, the Volkswagen Polo points not to fashion, but to the trend of the ‘Digital Cockpit’, now standard, added to a multifunction steering wheel also standard, and a new design, latest-generation infotainment system with an online control unit (eSIM) and ‘App-Connect Wireless’.

The IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist option turns the little Polo into a semi-autonomous vehicle, as this driving assistant, in combination with the lane departure warning assistant, is merged into a new assistance system, which allows the model to be driven semi-automated up to 210 km / h. Also, the Polo offers other driving assistance systems such as ‘Front Assist’ surveillance, with emergency braking in the city.
