A compact, but muscular and tall body, and an efficient hybrid engine have, together with its price, made it the best-selling hybrid in Europe. The registrations for October have left behind several very striking facts regarding efficient cars. If the sales ranking of hybrid cars is analyzed, it is striking that the one that was leading the sales table in the accumulated year, the Toyota C-HR, has given up the first position in October partially to its little brother.
It has been, more specifically, the Toyota Yaris Cross, the best-selling hybrid car in the 30 days of October. According to ANFAC figures, the Japanese B-SUV registered a total of 1,819 units in Europe last month, a notable figure, although the margin it leaves behind concerning the second best-selling model does not seem too significant.
It should be noted that Toyota completely dominated the hybrid car sales podium last month, since the Yaris Cross is followed by the C-HR and the Corolla with 1,688 and 1,673 units, respectively.
In the general sales table, which includes the sales of cars with all types of engines, the three models continue to occupy very relevant positions. The Yaris Cross is still in the top 3, only behind two authentic low-cost cars, such as the Dacia Sandero and MG ZS, which have been the first and second passenger cars after registering 3,059 and 2,421 units respectively.
The keys to the success of the Toyota Yaris Cross
The small Japanese B-SUV is not only a car that succeeds in Europe, but it does so throughout Europe. Toyota has been able to shape an SUV that, although it is still perceived as a relatively compact car, also appears muscular and tall to the eye, something appreciated by consumers who scan the market in search of a robust-looking SUV.
To this must be added the fact that, on the one hand, in its front-wheel drive versions (the most popular) it has a large 397-liter trunk (so despite its size it is still capable and practical) and which, on the other hand, is the cheapest SUV to purchase among all those powered by conventional hybrid mechanics (HEV).
The Toyota Yaris Cross currently has a price in Europe of 25,950 euros. There is only the option of opting for a mechanical version with 116 HP of power. The rival that follows closest in the price section is the Renault Captur E-Tech, which starts at 27,016 euros at the moment.
