Pininfarina unveils its $4.8 million electric Speedster B95

Developed from the extraordinary Pininfarina Battista, the B95 is an ode to beauty and electricity. As soon as it arrives in the world, it becomes the most powerful barchetta in the world.

Electrification is redefining everything we thought we knew when it came to pure speed and performance. Electric cars are capable of achieving impressive figures, but that is not everything when it comes to exposing them in a hypercar. When creating an exceptional jewel, there are several requirements, all of which come together under a new creation developed in Italy. Its official name is Pininfarina B95 Speedster. Possibly, his name is the ugliest thing we can find on it. The B corresponds to the barchetta, while the 95 pays homage to the next anniversary of the company.

If we look back a bit, we still have in our memory when Pininfarina introduced the Battista to the world. An electric hypercar that dazzled the masses not only for its daring aesthetics but also for its high performance, becoming the fastest car in the world. Battista has been the donor to create the B95. A few weeks ago, the Italians already warned that they were going to launch a car that was as unique as it was impressive, and it has been. A few days before the celebration of the Monterrey Car Week. One of the most exclusive events in the world. An idyllic place to attract potential buyers.

Barchetta as it is, the B95 sheds the hardtop to reveal a speechless interior. The open concept also has its drawbacks and that is that the two occupants face each other, with no protection from all the elements. There is no windshield, no windows, and no small structure. Behind the seats, upholstered in one of the most classic fabrics in the world of motoring, two large structures protect the occupant’s heads in the event of a rollover. The use of a helmet will be mandatory if you want to fully explore the benefits of the B95.

Only 10 units will be manufactured worldwide, much less than the 150 that are planned for the Battista. Only a dozen people in the world will be able to enjoy an electric car that is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 120 kWh. This is responsible for feeding four electric motors, one for each wheel. Together they develop a maximum power of 1,400 kW, 1,877 hp with a maximum torque of 2,360 Nm. The B95 is one of the fastest cars in the world.

The technical sheet announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds with a top speed of 300 km/h. The battery is capable of recovering energy at a rate of 270 kW in direct current, so it can go from 20 to 80% of its charge in just 25 minutes. What Pininfarina has not detailed, not that it matters much, is range. Last but not least, the price. Possibly the most extraordinary fact of all. The 10 clients who have the Pininfarina B95 Speedster in the garage will have to pay a minimum of 4.4 million euros. Although it may seem incredible, surely there is no shortage of clients.
