BMW 3 Series 2023: All the official data and photos

BMW has published all the official data and images of the renewal of one of its flagships, the 3 Series saloon, a model that will hit the market in July.

We had already been anticipating it for months: one of the most important novelties for BMW for 2022 and 2023 was going to be the renewal of the 3 Series saloon. After several previous reports that advanced some unofficial preliminary details about how the update of this vehicle was going to be, finally, the BMW brand itself has already published all the official information about one of its flagship cars.

The renewed BMW 3 Series, both in its Sedan body version and in the Touring family, will reach the European market in July. In fact, for Germany, there are already official prices: from 43,900 for the Sedan variant and 45,000 euros for the Touring.

On an aesthetic level, there are various and multiple subtle changes both in the exterior and in the interior. On the outside, in the front area, the headlights are new (now, they are more elongated), with LED technology as standard (optionally, with an adaptive lighting system and with matrix LED technology). At this front, the daytime running lights arranged in an inverted L-shape also attract attention. In the rear area, the new bumpers and rear apron stand out, accentuating the sportiness and dynamic lines of the vehicle. On the other hand, various finishes for the exhaust outlets, whose tubes can have a diameter of 90 or 100 millimeters (depending on the engine).

Another aesthetic novelty in the Series 3 update is the standard availability of the new M High-gloss Shadowline exterior finish. As standard, the new alloy wheels will always be 17 inches (or 18 inches in versions with the M Sport sports pack). Precisely this M Sport pack has also been renewed, with a new design for the front and rear skirts and also new M light-alloy wheels.

In the case of the Performance M versions, their aesthetic hallmarks are as follows: kidney-shaped front grille with mesh design, M light-alloy wheels in 18-inch format (or 19-inch as an option), and trapezoidal trims of the tailpipe for the M exhaust system and exterior mirrors in high-gloss black.

Highlights of the extensive list of options include the M Sport Pro Pack, which includes extended M High-gloss Shadowline trim, M Shadowline lights, and an M Sport braking system with red calipers. Likewise, upgrade items from the BMW M Performance Parts range also offer distinctive options to further accentuate the dynamic character of the German saloon in its two-body versions.

The range of exterior colors has been expanded to include Skyscraper Gray metallic and M Brooklyn Gray metallic as part of the M Sport package. Also added to the range are the BMW Individual special paint finishes Frozen Pure Gray Metallic and Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic. In total, customers can also choose from an extremely wide selection of around 150 special paint finishes bearing the hallmark of the BMW Individual special department.

The interior of the new 3 Series has received a complete update. On the other hand, the selector lever of the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission also has a new design. This lever is now located on the control panel in the center console along with the Start/Stop button, iDrive controller, driving experience control buttons, parking brake, and other vehicle functions.

Onboard, another of the novelties offered as standard in the update of the German saloon is the three-zone automatic climate control (it supports voice commands to regulate the temperature), in addition to the navigation system.

From both screens, the driver and passengers will be able to enjoy the new functionalities and the faster and more intuitive operation of the new eighth-generation iDrive operating system.

ENGINES AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT

The mechanical range announced for the German manufacturer’s saloon does not include changes. In this way, the following versions will be available in gasoline: 318i (156 CV), 320I (184 CV), 330i (245 CV), and M340i (374 CV). For those who prefer diesel , up to four alternatives: 318d (150 hp), 320d (190 hp), 330d (286 hp) and M340d (340 hp) . The range is completed with the versions with plug-in hybrid technology 320e (204 hp) and 330e (292 hp).

All diesel engines and the M340i gasoline are accompanied by 48V micro-hybrid mild-hybrid technology. In all cases, the gearbox is the eight-speed Steptronic automatic with torque converter.

Finally, the chapter on safety and driving assistants includes the most varied and advanced technologies and devices. The following systems are offered as standard for the entire 3 Series range: speed programmer/limiter, collision warning system, and involuntary lane-departure system, among others.
