Volkswagen T-Roc 2022: Five changes we’ve seen

Volkswagen's compact SUV raises the bar with a deeper-than-usual look makeover in a restyling and an upgraded, more-equipped interior.

One restyling is usually put on a model, but with modest changes. This is not the case with the facelift to which the Volkswagen T-Roc has been subjected, which notably changes its appearance … and for the better.

In addition, Volkswagen’s compact SUV incorporates some technological elements typical of higher segments and solves a couple of defects of the original model: the quality of the dashboard materials and the lack of ‘grace’ in its design. It will arrive in spring with a price that in Spain starts below 24,000 euros.

A much more attractive exterior design

Just take a look at the photos to appreciate all that the new T-Roc has gained in the aesthetic section. It is not a revolution but the brush strokes on the canvas leave a much more attractive painting. The grille now has wider horizontal bands (one of them can even be illuminated) and the lower part of the bumper (both front and rear) is much sportier by integrating and framing the air intakes/outlets.

The headlights do not change their design excessively, but the technology and the light signature they contain, since now you can choose the IQ.LIGHT with LED matrices (the standard headlights are LED). Five new colors rejuvenate the presentation of this new T-Roc.

This change was needed by the German compact SUV, which now offers a redesigned foam dashboard core to accommodate the revamped center console layout. The central air intakes are now more discreet and the side vents receive a more modern design.

There are more novelties in the door panels, which now receive more sophisticated materials. In addition, new decorative elements are appreciated in the trim and head restraints that together.

Much improved multimedia

The Volkswagen T-Roc 2022 distinguishes itself perfectly indoors simply by looking at its center screen, now floating instead of integrated and between 8 and 9.2 inches diagonally. The watch frame is now digital in all versions, although size may vary (can go up to 10.2 “)

You can’t see it, but the new MIB3 infotainment system offers more features, such as new connected services, streaming, and mobile pairing: now your phone will connect wirelessly be it Apple or Android.

In parallel, the new T-Roc comes with state-of-the-art assistants, such as IQ. Drive Traffic Assist, a semi-automatic driving system in traffic jams that integrates an adaptive cruise control with the lane assistant and the reading of traffic signs. so that the car can manage all that information in congestion … although some of them individually can also operate at high speed.

New range configuration

The offer of the T-Roc 2022 is divided into two silhouettes (SUV and Cabrio), four aesthetically different equipment levels (Basic, LifeStyle, and R-Line ), and five engines: three gasoline and two TDI.

The German SUV starts with the 110 horses of the 1.0 TSI with three cylinders to pass to the four cylinders of 150 and 190 CV while those of diesel are two 2.0 TDI of 115 and 150 CV. The 4Motion all-wheel drive is reserved for the most powerful engine of each fuel, being standard only in gasoline.
