The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door 63 S E-Performance was presented today. It is not yet known what the top model of the series will cost. If you look at the normal GT 4-door, which has a starting price of almost 97,000 euros, we think that the hybrid model should start at over 100,000 euros.
Exterior design and technical data
Nobody doubts that the GT 4-door E-Performance is a sports car. With its expressive design, which is particularly emphasized by the muscular body and the sporty hatchback, you can immediately recognize the borrowings from motorsport. The front apron, which looks like it has been molded from one piece, is also very striking and blends in well with the dynamic design.
You can see that the outer air inlets have become wider and are more aligned with the center of the vehicle.
At the rear, the E-Performance can be recognized by the plug-in loading flap and the highlighted model name leaves no room for doubt. Trapezoidal twin tailpipes, which are corrugated on the outside, have also been introduced with the hybrid.
The exterior design can be individualized with a wide variety of paint finishes. Whether matt, metallic or non-metallic paintwork, everything is on offer. The exterior can also be made a bit sportier by choosing, for example, the Night Package II or the Carbon Package.
2022 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Engine
The heart of a 4.0-liter V8 engine with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor beats under the hood of the AMG GT E-Performance. The high-performance battery was developed by Mercedes itself. The system performance of the electric motor and V8 is a whopping 843 hp and an unbelievable 1,400 Newton meters of maximum torque. These are impressive figures, which can also be seen in the fact that E-Performance is the most powerful production vehicle from AMG to date.
It accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.9 seconds, to 200 km / h in less than ten seconds and the top speed is only reached at an enormous 316 km / h. The electric motor has been positioned on the rear axle and given an electrically switched two-speed gearbox.
When developing the GT E-Performance, it was clear that all essential components should be developed by AMG itself. The focus here was primarily on the high-performance battery. Ideas were taken from the Formula 1 hybrid racing cars from Mercedes-AMG and expert knowledge was exchanged. The result is a battery that often combines available power with low weight and can thus increase performance.
The capacity of the battery is 70 kW, for ten seconds 150 kW can be extracted as peak power. The weight is only 89 kilograms and the power density is 1.7 kW / kg.
Interior
As the top version of the model series, the AMG GT 63 E-Performance is particularly well equipped. Everything that the younger facelift model received is of course also installed here. There are also AMG ceramic high-performance brakes and the MBUX system with a special hybrid display as standard.
The instrument cluster shows the electric range, the power and torque of the electric motor, the power consumption, and the temperatures of the battery and motor.
