Peugeot 208 2023: Renewed design and interior

Peugeot begins to outline the main keys of the next set-up that its iconic utility will undergo. The new Peugeot 208 2023 will bring with it very relevant news. The second-generation 208 will be updated with a facelift that will allow you to raise your bet in terms of technology and efficiency. We anticipate the first details.

The second generation of the Peugeot 208 is enjoying notorious commercial success. Since its launch in the second half of 2019, the popular Peugeot model has established itself as one of the best-selling utility vehicles in Europe. It is one of the references to beat in the B segment. Now, time is advancing inexorably and the time has come for the French manufacturer to start outlining the next overhaul of its subcompact.

Peugeot is starting preparations to carry out the development of the facelift that will allow this generation to face the rest of its commercial life that lies ahead. A “facelift” that will bring with it very important news. The first information about this mid-cycle update has seen the light and, what is more relevant, we accompany it with some interesting recreations.

Restyling will arrive in 2023

At the aesthetic level, there will be relevant changes. The objective is none other than to adapt the 208 to the new design philosophy that Peugeot is applying to all its new models. And more specifically, the reference will be the new Peugeot 308. The “older brother” of the 208 marks the path that the facelift will follow. However, as it is a “facelift”, there will be no excessively radical changes. And most of them will focus on the front.

The recreations that accompany this article allow us to glimpse what the new 208 will be like. There will be new features on the grid, headlights and, how could it be otherwise, the new Peugeot logo will appear. New options for customization are also foreseeable. That is, colors for the body, wheels, and, as we will see later, interior upholstery.

And speaking of the interior, this allows us to connect directly with technological improvements. The infotainment system will be updated to have new functions and tools. The basic touch screen will increase in size. The 208 will take a step forward in terms of connectivity. In addition, the list of driver assistance systems will be expanded.

Peugeot 208 2023 Engine

About the mechanical section, the 208 will increase its commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility. At the moment the Peugeot e-208 can boast of being one of the best-selling electric cars in Europe. However, and beyond this 100% electric variant, the rest of the mechanics with which the 208 is sold are conventional. Well, this is going to change.

The 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline engine will continue to be the backbone of the combustion engine. Now, this popular block will be modified to meet stringent emissions regulations. Versions equipped with a manual gearbox will be electrified with 48-volt light hybrid technology (MHEV). Automatic models will benefit from a new e-DCT dual-clutch transmission developed by Punch Powertrain-PSA and will incorporate an electric motor.

For the aforementioned e-208, there will also be mechanical changes. The current 100 kW (136 hp) engine will be replaced by a new power unit designed and manufactured by the Nidec-PSA joint venture. An improvement in autonomy is also expected due to various actions on the battery. In addition, and on the occasion of the arrival of this update, the Peugeot e-208 PSE, the most efficient and performance alternative in the range, will be introduced in society.
