Porsche debuts the most powerful Cayenne in history

Porsche has been, by far, the luxury brand that has been betting on the electrification of the range for the longest time. Those from Stuttgart are very clear about how they want their future to be in the medium and long term. Models like the forthcoming Porsche Macan EV, which we have already seen numerous times in its development stage, show that in Germany they are fully committed to electricity. However, before reaching that point the E-Hybrid versions offer an intermediate compromise between the classic and the modern. The sum of two worlds that allows us to enjoy the most powerful Porsche Cayenne ever developed.

The Porsche family will soon grow. The Cayenne will no longer be the largest SUV in the house, an honor that will receive a 100% electric model developed for a maximum of seven passengers. After spending more than 20 years in the workforce, the Cayenne has evolved generously through its three generations now. Last spring an important restyling was introduced that today is expanded with the arrival of the E-Hybrid units with a plug-in hybrid system. Units that arrive to become the most powerful in the entire range, becoming the second most powerful Porsche model after the Taycan.

On an aesthetic level, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid hardly offers any differences concerning the outgoing model. Slight modifications in optics, bumpers, and wheels are not capable of warning of the profound changes that are seen in the interior.

The dashboard changes completely to take advantage of the updated format of the house, a trend started by the Taycan. Up to three screens crowd inside, one of them in front of the co-driver, highlighting the digital instrumentation with a large curved panel. Embedded technology also improves, receiving a complete package of driving assistants.

However, the truly important thing about the Turbo versions lies in performance. While a Cayenne E-Hybrid kicks off its power at a not inconsiderable 470bhp, thanks in large part to a three-liter turbo V6 block, the combined performance of the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid rockets to 739bhp  with an engine torque of 950 Nm. These figures allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 295 km/h. With the data in hand, we are talking about one of the most powerful SUVs on the face of the earth, although we must also mention the improvement in electric range.

In addition to replacing the V6 with a powerful 4-liter twin-turbo V8 that alone is capable of generating 599 horsepower, the electrical scheme of the E-Hybrid units is improved with a new, higher-capacity battery pack. With 25.9 kWh, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is capable of homologating up to 82 kilometers of range in urban routes and up to  73 kilometers in mixed cycle.

For recharging, opt for alternating current feeders of up to 11 kW that allow you to recover the entire battery in less than two and a half hours. All these values, including performance, power, and equipment, also apply to the Cayenne Coupé, with the exclusivity of being able to offer a GT Pack with a sportier and more specific set-up.
