The much-anticipated SUV is finally here and it’s way better than MG

The Dacia Duster is the ‘flagship’ of the Romanian brand and will remain so until the Dacia Bigster arrives in 2025. But it had fallen behind new options such as the MG ZS. This third generation, the Dacia Duster 2025, will seek to revalidate the title of the best-selling SUV in Europe – from 2022 – in a larger format, with a more mature image, much more complete in equipment, and also proposing an authentic mechanical revolution with compared to what it offered before. Not only does it catch up with the MG ZS, but it is now clearly a superior product.

The new Dacia Duster 2024 is based on the CMF-B platform that the Sandero and Jogger had already adopted, it grows slightly in its dimensions and completely changes its aesthetics to have a much more robust appearance. The front is committed to absolute horizontality with slit LED optics that integrate the daytime signature in the shape of an overturned “Y” and fit into a single module next to the grill, with small segments following the same horizontal inclination. Thanks to the use of this new platform, although on the outside it does not change much, its interior measurements improve with more wide space in the front seats and more legroom in the rear seats.

The new Dacia Duster 2024 is a revolutionary change in design, equipment, and engines too

In addition to the above, the trunk improves in the new Dacia Duster 2024, which now offers 472 liters compared to the 445-liter capacity it had before. And now it also has a new roof rack with a load of up to 80 kg. Outside of these details, which are undoubtedly important, a giant leap has been made in equipment for the Dacia Duster, starting with its new digital instrument panel as standard for all versions except the access finish; and the new 10.1-inch diagonal screen for the multimedia system.

This multimedia screen is, of course, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and is oriented towards the driver slightly. The automatic transmission selector lever has been redesigned and the steering wheel has been revised as well. Just like on the outside, inside the Dacia Duster 2024 looks much more refined and with higher qualityAlthough all of this is already really important news, the biggest revolution of the Dacia Duster 2024, concerning the previous generation of the model, is in the section of its mechanics.

Goodbye to diesel, all Dacia Duster 2024 have engines with ECO labels and finally a hybrid version arrives

Thanks to the introduction of this CMF-B platform, at the same time that the Dacia Duster 2024 says goodbye to diesel engines definitively, a complete ‘ECO label’ range arrives. The most basic among its versions is the 1.0 ECO-G 100 HP that we already knew before and can be seen in any Dacia model. But now, above it sits the 1.3 TCe MHEV, which develops 130 HP of maximum power thanks to a 1.2 Turbo three-cylinder gasoline engine with mild hybrid technologyThis engine can be combined with  4×2 and 4×4 traction, always with a six-speed manual gearbox.

And crowning its catalog, the new Dacia Duster Hybrid with a maximum power of 140 HP, based on a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine along with two electric motors and a four-speed clutchless automatic transmission. This mechanism comes with a battery with 1.2 kWh energy storage capacity and promises electric driving 80% of the time in circulation in the city; In addition, it always starts in electric mode.

All mechanical versions of the Dacia Duster 2024, for the first time, come with an ECO label from the DGT, although they obtain it differently. On the other hand, the new Terrain Control system has been introduced for the all-wheel drive versions, included as standard, and which has five driving modes: Auto, Snow, Sand, Off-Road, and Eco. The 4×4 versions have a ground clearance of 217 mm and angles of 31º of attack and 36º of departure.
