We have been waiting for years for electric cars to begin to exist in Europe at a low price, enough for them to be on par with the prices of thermal ones. And that, although not everyone knows it, today it already exists. The electric car in question costs 19,480 euros at least, it is like a Volkswagen Golf or a SEAT León, for example, and the Golf costs almost 29,000 euros at least. So not only is it as cheap as a gasoline car, but the electric car we are talking about is much cheaper than a Volkswagen Golf.
And the first thing you might think is that it costs so little because something is missing, right? This is what happens with the Dacia Spring, for example, which due to its power and range is not worth it as a unique car. Well, this model is very different, because in its cheapest version, it already has an electric motor with 170 HP of maximum power, and can also achieve a range of 350 kilometers according to the WLTP homologation cycle. We’re talking, as you may have already guessed, about the MG 4 . Which, in addition, is much larger than a Dacia Spring and can boast of having a lot of equipment included as standard. That’s what’s so surprising about MG 4.
The MG 4 has no possible rival; cheaper than Volkswagen Golf
The MG 4 has a body that is 4.28 meters long, so it has ‘traditional’ compact measurements. If we compare it with a Volkswagen Golf, they measure the same. What is true is that the German compact has a trunk capacity of 381 liters and, however, the electric MG 4 has 363 liters of capacity. The difference is not too much, but, indeed, the Golf wins here.
Now, a basic Volkswagen Golf has a 1.0 TSI 110 HP engine without electrification of any kind and, therefore, has the DGT C label. And yet, the MG 4 comes with a 100% electric motor that develops a maximum power of 350 kilometers under the WLTP homologation cycle and that also earns it the DGT Zero label. Obviously, at the ‘mechanical’ level they are radically different options and yes, today, pure electric is a much more recommended purchase option.
The MG 4, by the way, in this version has an LFP battery that guarantees maximum safety and, in addition, has a very long useful life, with minimal degradation with use. And if you don’t trust it, know that MG sells its cars with a 7-year warranty, so there’s nothing to worry about. To this, we must add that the MG 4 comes with much more equipment included from the factory than a Golf, a León, or any comparable car in its category and that the brand also offers it one year of free insurance on everything. risk. Come on, their offer has no rival to match.
Of course, let me tell you that, if I were to buy this electric car, I would try to spend a little more and not buy the most basic version of the range. Because? Well, above all, because to have the heat pump system you have to purchase the Luxury finish. The good thing is that this version not only has a heat pump but also includes much more extra equipment, it already has a range of 450 kilometers and also has a fast charging system and an electric motor that develops 204 HP of maximum power.
