A new Honda Civic Type R is on the way, and these new exclusive renders give you a taste of what the Japanese hottie might look like when it hits the market in 2022.
Expect this alternative to the Volkswagen Golf R and Hyundai i30 N to be equipped with a powerful petrol engine, and to fly the flag one last time for the pure enthusiast.
Exterior design
Like the previous model, the new Civic Type R will keep its splendid appearance. This exclusive rendering, based on the new Civic hatchback, shows what it might look like. The aggressive front bumper with massive air intakes and a red-edged splitter is retained, as is the wide (and functional) hood scoop.
The side gets aprons that match the front splitter, as well as some red-painted alloy wheels and flared wheel arches to accommodate wider tires.
At the stern, the huge spoiler will return, along with large vents and an aggressive diffuser. The three-pipe exhaust system could also return. This rendering shows three pipes of the same size – instead of the tiny center pipe of the current vehicle.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Interior
As with every Honda Civic Type R, the interior is still based on the regular hatchback sedan, but with a whole range of changes that make for a fast-paced appearance.
This includes Alcantara equipment everywhere and red accents throughout the vehicle. Type R-branded bucket seats are all but safe, and the old car’s “R” drive mode selector will likely be found here too.
Engines
Honda has pledged to equip all cars sold in Europe with some form of electric drive, be it hybrids or all-electric cars, by the end of 2022, but the Civic Type R is likely to be an exception to that rule.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine will return and propel the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
He may use a mild-hybrid drive in which a small generator is built to switch off the engine earlier when stopping.
The power could increase from the current 320 HP up to 350 HP, whereby a time from 0 to 100 km / h of almost 5 seconds is likely.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Price
The Type R is expected to launch sometime in 2022 and go on sale later in the year or early 2022.
The price could be around 44,000 euros, with the new car having a slight premium over the previous model.
