Fisker recovers from problems and begins to threaten Tesla Model Y

Fisker’s SUV is garnering as many good reviews as it does sales. The Magna Steyr plant in Graz has increased the production rate significantly and they hope to improve it before the end of the year. At first, everything costs. When a brand launches a new product on the market, the steps to follow are slower than when said product has been on sale for years. Little by little stages are burning. Slow brings experience and experience speed. Fisker has taken its time building the first units of the Ocean, but production is already going from strength to strength. The brand announces a surprising production and hopes to improve it before the end of the year. In addition, they hope to meet the objectives set at the beginning of this year.

Over the last few years, Fisker Automotive, under the tutelage of Henrik Fisker, has been teasing the arrival of a new electric car on the market. These advances materialized with the arrival of the Fisker Ocean. A very well-presented SUV that came to be a rival to models as important and popular as the Tesla Model Y. The figures were on the table: good range and a more than reasonable price with very interesting technical and habitability characteristics. So much so that the EPA has certified the Ocean with greater range than its greatest rival.

Although it is not yet available in our country, it can be reserved, but it is not yet sold. Fisker announced last March a starting price of 41,900 euros, before aid or discounts. A succulent rate that has been replicated in all the markets where the Ocean is already being delivered. This price hook has stimulated sales, but during the past quarters, production has left many unknowns in the air. In the second quarter, Fisker announced production of 1,022 units, well below the estimated 1,400-1,700 unit range.

It must be taken into account that for this adventure, Fisker Automotive has had the experience of Magna Steyr. The Austrian company operates internationally from its Graz plant, where it manufactures cars for other companies. They are one of the most reputable companies in the industry and few are better than them to execute the Ocean plans. Despite the experience, the manufacturing start-up has been slower than expected. So far in the third quarter, Magna Steyr has produced 3,123 units, which represents a considerable increase.

Fisker Ocean

Deliveries have long since started, first in Europe and more recently in the United States. The Old Continent monopolizes, for the moment, the bulk of the orders, although it is expected that the figure concerning the American market will balance out as the months go by. Now, the objective is to increase the rate of production. Henrik Fisker himself has announced that the next step is to assemble 300 units a day during the next quarter. It is a difficult objective, but, according to the figures, plausible. Currently, the figure is around 180 vehicles per day.

At Fisker, they have much more ambitious plans for the future in the medium and short term. The next car from the house, the Fisker PEAR, will go into production next year if all goes well. Its sales should be higher than Ocean’s. Its attractive sales price will make it one of the most interesting electric cars on the market, although there are still many details to be revealed. Later, in the next few years, more units will join the family. Two important novelties were recently presented, a GT sports car and a pick-up.
