Ford Ranger 2022: Will offer a V6, but only in America

The American giant Ford is already working on the next generation of the only pick-up in its catalog that it sells in Europe, the Ford Ranger, and which will be a global model, which will also be on sale in North America. At the moment, we know that it will have a plug-in hybrid version and there are rumors about some changes for the Ranger Raptor.

In fact, the Australian publication CarExpert has obtained a document from which it appears that the Ford Ranger Raptor 2022, the wildest version of the model, will offer a new V6 gasoline engine, although only for the United States market.

It would be an improved version of Ford’s 2.7 EcoBoost block, a V6 that should reach a power of around 330 hp and a maximum torque of 542 Nm. In addition, it is expected that it will be associated with an automatic transmission, specifically the new box with a torque converter and 10 speeds from the Detroit brand.

Outside the North American markets, however, as is the case in Europe, Australia, or some Asian countries, it appears that the Raptor will only be offered with two diesel cycle engines, and therefore the V6 gasoline engine will not be available, very to our regret.

The access drive will be a 2.0 Biturbo, fueled by diesel, with 213 hp and 500 Nm; that is, the same engine that equips the current Ranger Raptor, which in Spain starts at 56,900 euros, together with the ten-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system.

It should be noted that the Raptor that is currently on sale, stands out for its imposing aesthetics, but above all for the work that the brand has carried out at the suspension level, thanks for example to Fox shock absorbers with external reserve. It is not a pure all-rounder, but rather a beast designed to travel at high speeds on tracks and roads.

In some markets, Ford will also offer a more powerful diesel cycle version, specifically a 3.0 V6 block, taken directly from the Ford F-150, with 260 hp of power and 600 Nm of maximum torque. In this case, the transmission will also be automatic with ten relationships, although the all-wheel-drive system will be permanent, unlike the previous case.

Finally, rumors also point to the next-generation Ranger Raptor making a leap in terms of quality, technology … and a price too.
