MG Motor Reveals MG4 EV Price And Full Specs

MG has achieved an excellent position with the MG ZS, above all, for its value for money. They are targeting very low budgets, and little by little they are making a  dent in the market. Now it’s time to open up, really, with electric cars. And the  MG4, which will be a rival for the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric and the Volkswagen ID.3, among others, already has a price in Europe and is a  serious candidate for success in the market. It will be available in two versions.

The  MG4 has a body of  4.29 meters in length and is in a compact format. It will be available in versions with  170 hp and 51 kWh of battery capacity, as well as  204 hp and 64 kWh; that is, an offer very similar to that offered by its direct competitors.

In addition, the range of versions will be expanded later, because at launch these two will be rear-wheel drive and in the future, four-wheel drive configurations will arrive. The first of these versions offers 350 km of autonomy and the second  450 km according to the WLTP homologation cycle.

The MG4 bets on a lower price than the Volkswagen ID.3 or the electric Renault Mégane

The estimated starting price will be  30,850 euros, taking as a reference its rates in the United Kingdom, which correspond to the version with a 51 kWh battery. The most expensive version, with more power and with more autonomy, goes up to  33,816 euros.

And it is especially relevant because the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric, with a 60 kWh battery, 218 hp, and a range of 450 km, costs more than 42,000 euros in the same market. And the equivalent Volkswagen ID.3, the same, exceeds 42,000 euros as well.

It is a difference of more than 9,000 euros in favor of the MG4. And the truth is that both for performance and equipment, for example in the technology section, the MG4 has nothing to envy the Volkswagen ID.3 or the Renault model.

With these prices, without any doubt, the MG4 will have it quite easy to take part in the sales that both the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric and the Volkswagen ID.3 are reaping. The only problem is that his two competitors start with some time advantage.

The MG4 electric will be available on the European market during the last quarter of 2022. This same year it can be purchased in Spain, and it is expected that the launch range will be made up of these two versions with up to 450 kilometers of autonomy at most. As we mentioned before, the brand will later expand its options by adding some configurations with four-wheel drive. At the moment, the two launch versions are rear-wheel drive configurations.

Although the MG4 is far from being an electric car, it fits into the  C segment, the typical hatchback, and the truth is that its price is much lower than that of the current protagonists of the segment. It does not introduce anything especially better than what the others already offered, but a difference of  9,000 euros in its rates already makes it much more attractive.
