Peugeot e-3008 Electric SUV will arrive in 2023

Next year, Peugeot will launch what is probably its most ambitious electric car to date: the e-3008. This model will be in charge of launching the STLA Medium platform of the Stellantis group, an architecture that will go one step further than the eCMP of the e-208 and the EMP2 of the e-308 in terms of performance and use of space.

Everything indicates that it will be available with two battery packs, one of 60 kWh that will provide a range of more than 400 km WLTP, and another of 87 kWh with which it will approach 600 km WLTP. The NCM (nickel, cobalt, manganese) cells used will be of ACC (Automotive Cells Company) origin, a European consortium formed by Mercedes-Benz, Saft (Total), and Stellantis.

Another novelty will be the use of the Emotions M2 electric motor, a unit developed jointly with the specialist Nidec that will be characterized by its high efficiency. Although the entry versions will be front-wheel drive, the STLA Medium platform will also support all-wheel drive, an option that is likely to crown the e-3008’s range.

In addition, there may be also a high-performance variant PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineered), which could exceed 300 HP of power. This model will have to compete against the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX, which will receive a short-term restyling (2024) to stay current against newcomers like our protagonist.

The Peugeot e-3008 will be a rival of the Renault Scénic E-TECH

However, the main rival of the Peugeot will be the Renault Scénic E-TECH, which will also have separate packs of 60 and 87 kWh. Scheduled for 2024, the SUV from the diamond firm should be more practical than the e-3008, as Peugeot will bet on a “coupé”-type silhouette to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics.

The Peugeot e-3008 will be in charge of launching the new Peugeot corporate design language, which will be characterized by more radical lines. There will also be changes in the cabin, as the current i-Cockpit will evolve to adopt a display made up of two screens in panoramic format (digital instrumentation and infotainment system).

Many of the e-3008’s major aesthetic cues will be unveiled in early January with the Inception Concept, a radical concept car debuting at CES in Las Vegas. As it has been seen in the latest advances, some characteristic features such as the light shape in the form of a triple claw will remain. Photo;Caradisiac
